Government of the people, by the people, for the people…
The State (the government) is an organization just like all others. It has a big overarching mission and many little missions all working together. It’s ever looking to hire more employees and spend more money on more initiatives. It always wants to be in more places doing more things. It’s always looking for more revenue.
Unfortunately, it is unlike any other organization because it has the ability to create, change and remove laws that everyone must abide by. The money it spends belongs to other people. It can change the amount of money it takes and who it takes it from. It can borrow money and spend it and other people have to pay it back. It is constantly looking to grow and wield more power and it is very rare that it ever shrinks or loses power.
