Hello!
One of my fellow admins of the NFL UK facebook group and I had two productive meetings with Dazn and the NFL this week, and we have quite a few things to report! We ask that you read this whole post so that you know what information we will need from you in order to get the best help possible from Dazn and the NFL going forward.
If you are experiencing quality issues with on demand programs, or live streams this weekend we would like to know the following:
Your location
Your internet speed
What device you used when you had the bad quality
What program you were trying to watch.
If you do not provide us with the information above we will not be able to get things fixed as quickly. Therefore we ask that you save us some time and just provide the information we are asking for so that we can get you help quicker.
They have been using AI to edit the game in 40 previously, and as we have noticed for the past few weeks, and in the preseason games, the algorithm is still not 100% correct. We asked them to introduce a human review which they have agreed to do this week, and so we are hoping to see a huge improvement. If you see issues, please list what game, and the timestamp, and what the actual issue is with the editing (missing snaps, missing flag announcement, time jumping around etc.)
Weekly passes are available, for those who are not already subscribers, if you are trying to subscribe and do not see them available, please tell us where you are located. Even if you are not going to get the weekly pass, please let us know if you see it as an option or not!
When you open a game, the stats box should not automatically display the end of game stats anymore when you first click on a game on desktop or tablet, and if you go to full screen mode, and turn off spoilers, and go back to the non-full screen mode the box should remain hidden. If this is not working, please let us know.
This weekend they will be testing UK-EU portability for a small group of users as a test before a full roll out. If any of you test it, we would be happy to hear your experience if it works! If it doesn’t work it is very likely that it should be working in the very near future. Our understanding is that the blackout games should be localised only to those who are currently in the UK. So if you travel into the UK from the EU you will potentially experience blacked out games, and if you travel outside of the UK to the EU you may be able to see the games that are blacked out. If any of you are the lucky ones in the first test group for UK-EU portability and try watching a blacked out game, please let us know what you find.
If you come across any programs that are missing from the platform, please leave the names of them below so that we can pass on the list. All of the content on the previous platform should be available, and new content as well, so if you are missing anything please let us know and they will get it up ASAP.
The Sunday afternoon (18:00 BST) game; Sunday Night Football and Monday night football games should open the stream 30 mins before and you should have access to the pregame show. For the Sunday afternoon (21:00 BST) game and Thursday night games Dazn is only able to start the broadcast 10 mins before. If you do not, please let us know, and tell us what device you are using and what game you are trying to watch.
If you are having issues watching on multiple devices we need to know which devices you are trying, and we ask that you ensure that you are on the same internet network with all the devices. Right now streaming via multiple devices will only be allowed for devices on the same network. We have brought up that many people previously used gamepass to watch in multiple places, but this is not something that they will be fixing any time soon, as it is standard practice for streaming services.
We should be receiving a timeline for when the start from beginning button and the downloads feature will be available for mobile users. We asked them to prioritise getting those for mobile devices, and then work on roll out for other devices after, as we think that should benefit the majority of users.
In the coming weeks we are hoping to get in touch with the UX team at Dazn to help them figure out how to better organize the gamepass interface. We mentioned how things do not feel organized optimally from a fan’s perspective, and we are going to hopefully be able to have a productive meeting with them as well so that it will be easier in the future to find the programs you want to watch.
We brought up the idea of being able to select one game, and then choose which type of replay you want from some sort of menu before it starts playing. The main thing that we told them was that there needs to be more consistency between the different versions of the app, and in how you navigate on the platform. We also mentioned that most people are not likely to want the 5 min highlights to be the default option for replays. We will follow up on this going forward.
That being said, we felt that the meeting was very productive, and it was clear that Dazn is trying to listen to feedback and is working on building a product that eventually will be even better than what we had in the past. If you have any ideas for improvement or what you would like to see in the future from gamepass, please submit them here: https://forms.gle/aMYBHPQKmvixoesP9 We will try to bring them up in our upcoming contact with the teams at Dazn and NFL.
I’ve seen a few posts on here of newcomers looking at the daunting task of picking a team to follow. Thought it would be a good idea to for everyone to share their own story’s.
I picked the jags back in 2017 had always been notoriously one of the worst teams in the NFL me and my mates picked them for Location (Florida ) for any future trips and the fact they are accessible to watch every season as they have become ( UK’s team) playing a home game every season at Wembley.
The first season they went all the way to the AFC championship game and myles Jack wasn’t down !!!!!! Robbery against the pats. It’s been a rollercoaster since but once you’re team sticks it sticks. 🐆🐆🐆
Sorry to raise another DAZN thread but this is end. Another tranche of issues has led me to cancel. Was looking forward today to the Saints/Panthers game and found that it's impossible to view the full event through the TV app. This goes for several games played on Sunday/Monday night. Then reverted to the phone and it is there if you search for it. OK so Chromecast is available so starting cast to the TV. Then found that it is impossible on my phone to fast forward using the 30 second widget. You can go backwards but not forwards. B*gger. I'm not sitting through all those commercials. Then went back to the TV and found it complaining about device limits so logged out on the phone but it still kept complaining. At this point the only resolution was to log everything out and start typing in passwords on the TV OR just cancel the bloody thing. So I cancelled. Goodbye to DAZN and their rotten apps.
So since the start of Sky Sports coverage and then the original Gamepass I will be without access to games apart from Youtube so I watched the 49ers there and at least that worked. I won't be subscribing to DAZN until they have resolved their egregious attempt at providing coverage of the NFL. Amateurs. It just proves that the NFL is all about money, They don't care about the fan experience and perhaps it's a deliberate ploy to alienate fans outside the US so they can put to bed all the talk about a London NFL franchise. I suspect that is secretely the last thing they want.
If I can get Redzone on Now TV then maybe that will suffice. If DAZN improve (which I doubt) then I may return. The next battle is to prevent them from debiting my credit card again but that's another story.
