Fga

[–]Barner_Burner 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Sarcasm aside this checks out. Poole went 0/4 with 0 points, so sadly old man Jack is not a certified baddie

[–]Warriorscyb3ryung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

jack is probably intimidating as hell to play in front of, but yeah kim k was there so poole has no excuses lol

[–]SpursGGezpzMuppy 160 points161 points  (1 child)

Here’s Johnny!!!

[–]CelticsZOOTV83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just going to bash your brains in! Gonna bash 'em right the fuck in!

[–]HeatPandemicP789 1222 points1223 points  (42 children)

His utter disgust to being famous now is nice

[–]HeatNumber333 735 points736 points  (38 children)

He's just an old man. That's his face.

[–]PistonsKoloHickory 418 points419 points  (18 children)

Jack Nicholson makes me feel old because i keep forgetting he's 86 and he's forever remembered in my head as how he looked in 2003 in anger management

[–]HeatDalliLlama 151 points152 points  (14 children)

Hes 86 now? Holy fuck

[–]Mavericksspicozi 103 points104 points  (11 children)

Gene Hackman is 93

[–]Spurs BandwagonNoirYorkCity 76 points77 points  (6 children)

So is Clint Eastwood...in 22 days.. Robert Duvall just turned 92... so did James Earl Jones and William Shatner ... Michael Caine is 90 now

[–]LakersRuben625 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Woah woah woah, I draw the line at Michael Caine

Bless his heart. I will never forget when he spoke to “Obama” at the RNC in 2012.

[–]Lakersneddiddley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That was the prequel to the crazy that was about to be unleashed a few years later.

[–]BurritosAt420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

William Shatner blows me away. A couple days ago I was shocked how well he looked for 92.

[–]qpwoeor1235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The HackMan

[–]peronsyntax 4 points5 points  (2 children)

And he used to ride his bike around Santa Fe all the time until recently

[–]cloudinspector1 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Santa Fe is nice.

[–]peronsyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love it 🏜️

[–]Sunsfinchdad 14 points15 points  (1 child)

How are you surprised, look at him. The nurses could have at least shaved his neck and wet-wiped his armpits before they wheeled him out onto the court (sarcasm). But seriously, you know someone is old when they are completely uninterested in aging with grace and just say "this is what I look like and if you don't like it, that's your problem."

[–]HeatDalliLlama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so much look. Because your right he does look old. Just feels like not long ago watching him star in movies.

[–]Lakerslikwitsnake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

la la la la la la la la

[–]Raptors115049 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shit. I will forever remember him as he was as the joker. Sure a few people here are stuck with cuckoo's nest or the shining. Dude has iconic films for every generation since the beginning of his career going back to the 60s.

[–]SpursForneauCosmique 56 points57 points  (15 children)

Supposedly he's suffering from early stages of dementia

[–]TimberwolvesPlants_R_Cool 46 points47 points  (12 children)

I first heard this at least 5-7 years ago, how long can it be early stages?

[–]Nuggetshermanhermanherman 206 points207 points  (11 children)

I actually worked as one of his caregivers back in 2013-2014. He does have some dementia even back then. It was sad to see because he is a quick witted guy and an immense talent. He is also very nice.

Reminds me of a story. Once I was leaving his place after my shift and when I got out to my car my tire pressure indicator was on. I went to check and it turned out my back left tire had a nail in it and was completely deflated. I went back inside since it was a bit chilly and called triple A. Jack heard me on the phone and came down stairs and asked what was going on. I explained the situation to him and how I was waiting for triple A and he said “don’t worry I got you.” He then proceeded to get on his hands and knees and actually allowed me to sit on his back and I rode him back to my place.

I get emotional thinking about this even because he really is a kind dude.

[–]Cavaliersthebusterbluth 54 points55 points  (2 children)

The HIPPA violation intro gave it away.

[–]Nuggetshermanhermanherman 33 points34 points  (1 child)

In all seriousness, I’m an attorney and FYI HIPPA doesn’t cover dementia patients because they can’t even remember their own medical history🧐

[–]SupersonicsTakingOnWater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about hippos to dispute it

[–]Pacershuskersax 66 points67 points  (3 children)

No hell in a cell or belts. 0/10.

[–]Maverickskhube 4 points5 points  (2 children)

[–]Lakersthe_bob_of_marley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn had me in the first half haha

[–]StripedWifebeater 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this beautiful insight. What a soft and kind human being. This story almost makes me forget all about the fact he was originally so evil in his autobiography The Departed

[–]Natujr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everytime they kept showing him on TV he looked like he didn't know where he was

[–]Suns Bandwagonbubbas111 11 points12 points  (1 child)

He’s just an old man. That’s his face.

I have never seen a picture or movie with Jack in it where he doesn’t either look angry or a serial killer observing his prey. The dude has resting crazy face.

[–][PHI] Joel EmbiidThatPlayWasAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he would look a lot less crazy if he was bald, honestly.

[–]SunsZizekbro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His body is the wrong shape.

[–]Barner_Burner 30 points31 points  (2 children)

It’s evident, but to be fair, if he really hated being famous he wouldn’t be sitting court side at a Lakers playoff game lol

[–]Lakersdeepfakefuccboi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He’s always sat there, if you had the best seats in the house for like 40 years why would you downgrade? There’s randoms we probably can’t name sitting courtside, not like they’re trying to be famous.

[–]Lakerstyler-86 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think Jack has proven he's there for the basketball, not the attention.

[–]LakersYourButtMyStuff 95 points96 points  (1 child)

[–]NBAsavytravler 336 points337 points  (12 children)

[–]MavericksBigFatModeraterFupa 210 points211 points  (10 children)

[–]Cavaliersthebusterbluth 3 points4 points  (5 children)

If you make it to 80, chances are you'll make it to 90.

[–]rambouhh 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Statistically not true. Life expectancy at 80 is 7 years for men and 9 for women in the United States

[–]SpursPapa_Huggies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

However, if you prove by induction, you'd get a different answer.

[–]Bangreviews 6 points7 points  (1 child)

This doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough math to dispute it.

[–]Senior_Ad_7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In layman's terms: there's not a lot of difference in being healthy enough to make it to 80 vs healthy enough to make it to 90.

[–]76erscalifournya 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He has supposedly not been seen in public since 2021 and was suffering from dementia. Cherish him while you can, he ain't young.

[–]Warriorspzrapnbeast 27 points28 points  (3 children)

I thought I saw something about his friends being worried about his mental health and that he wasn't leaving his home, but that could've just been an entertainment news bs headline that I saw.

[–]LakersWTakesOnly 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Apparently he has dementia and people have been saying he is displaying clear signs of dementia at these games

[–]Warriorspzrapnbeast 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's sad man

[–]LakersDaKingindaSouff 84 points85 points  (0 children)

The Cuckoo Man was Jack Nicholson, the movie star, a devoted follower of Laker basketball who had a seat right next to the Laker bench. In the championship season, when Portland had played Los Angeles, Nicholson had thus sat only about three feet away from the last man on the Portland bench who, in this case, happened to be Lloyd Neal, and everything that Nicholson said, every cry praising Kareem or belittling Walton, thundered in the ears of the Portland players. It was as if he had been chosen by the gods to bedevil them. At the halftime the Portland players had filed into the dressing room and one of the other players, impressed that so famous and yet now so manic a presence was seated so close to them, asked Ice if he knew who his neighbor was. No, he said, who? "Jack Nicholson, Ice," someone had answered. "You mean the little fellow, not much hair?" Neal asked. "Yes." "Who's he?" "A movie star. Did a picture One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." "Oh yeah," said Ice, "I know who he is, that guy." The others were not so sure whether Neal had seen the movie or not, they could never tell about Ice, whether he was smarter than they thought but playing dumb, or dumber than they thought but playing smart. In the second half Nicholson had kept up his cheering, loud, partisan, a noise which fell relentlessly upon the Portland bench. Then, late in the game, at a crucial moment, the game hanging in the balance, the Lakers had made a run and Kareem had gone out for a shot and as he did, Walton had gone up too and he had blocked it, and even as Walton reached the apex of his jump, his hand outstretched, the entire Portland bench had been aware of an even more dramatic moment: Lloyd Neal rising up out of his seat, huge now, intimidating, a great dark-visaged figure pointing a massive and threatening finger in a massive threatening hand at the suddenly tiny Nicholson. The others had watch this tableau, it seemed frozen in time for them, as if to symbolize the team's new invincibility, that they would not be beaten, not by Kareem, not by Los Angeles, not even by rich and celebrated actors, for there was Ice screaming at Nicholson, "Take that, mother-fucking cuckoo!" The moment had become part of the unofficial team history, a symbol of its triumph, and Nicholson, star of Chinatown, Five Easy Pieces and other great American films, had become simply The Cuckoo Man.

From Halberstam's "The Breaks of the Game"

[–]OkMathematician3380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great selection from a great book. It's ostensibly the story of the late 70s Trail Blazers teams, but the teams end up being a synecdoche for that era in basketball, which was professionalizing but not yet quite professional -- Finals games weren't even televised live, they were shown on tape delay, second to the evening news or whatever -- and still had a provisional feel that made more space for the characters that populate the book. Recommend!

[–]KnicksSiphenPrax 16 points17 points  (4 children)

Didn’t he come back for a Lakers game earlier in the year?

[–]LakersPretendDubs 33 points34 points  (3 children)

I think game 6 vs the Grizzlies was his first game back in a year+

[–]TimberwolvesThimit22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this sounds right, I posted a highlight of it and I think it was late in that series

[–]MavericksBigFatModeraterFupa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he was gone for at least 3 years

[–]KnicksSiphenPrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. I thought he came back for some random game in the winter.

DiCaprio will be hitting his Jack Nicholson arc 15-20 years from now and I am so here for it. He is already resembling Nicholson mannerisms and style.

[–]SunsBuckus93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is as good as it gets.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks a bit like they left him in that mental hospital in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and then dressed him up and wheeled him out to the game. Not bad for 86 nonetheless.

[–]Lakers98941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it weird that when they are showing the celebrities at Lakers games they never name Dyan Cannon anymore. You can see her their, but they never show her name.

[–]Trail BlazersEgonDangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't give him any chili.

[–]BucksOk_Boysenberry4470 0 points1 point  (0 children)
