First off, I'm in the US and the ONLY person I've known or recognized is the actor from Four Weddings & A Funeral who was in one of the New Years Treats, I have NO idea who ANY of these people are.*

I've noticed in both the threads about the individual episodes and threads on their own, posters comparing and ranking various series of the show, ie, "Not liking this series at all, there's NO chemistry between ANY of the panelists or between them and Alex or Greg," "WHERE'S THE CHAOTIC ONE?!". I will note this tends to happen the first few episodes of a new series before the panelists 'characters' have been fully drawn and formed and let loose.

I mean, it's fine if you want to do such a thing and much easier if you're in the UK or keep up with the standup scene over there via the internet or whatever, but I kind of don't get it.

I see every series and every panel of contestants as it's own unique little universe, the only connection to any of the other series are The Taskmaters and his Lickspittle/Assistant.

To me it's like comparing the NBA (national basketball association) to ten first grade girls playing basketball for the first time.

Yeah, there are some similarities, but the individuals, the personalities are unique to that specific series.

And yes, I have noticed that every new series has a panel of fairly specific types ie, the young comedian, the senior citizen, the 'chaotic,' one.

But within those types they are all different and unique.

*Okay I know a LITTLE about Alex and what a racist misogynist ani military nurse hater he is.

Do you want someone to tell you what to think...but you don't know who you should listen to? Well why not listen to all of them by looking at the average of their opinions...and then you can pretend it's your own opinion!

Here I am taking the average ranking of every player from every article posted by a major media:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kgjEzsF0N5zK6yFJUJgN2NE-wp_z3KmszAvYDsj487s/edit#gid=0

This is still considered 'in progress' and I will continue to update as more lists come out. The idea is that this list should be better if it considers opinions of several 'experts' instead of just one.

Currently, the top 25 players are as follows:

  1. Nikola Jokic

  2. Giannis Antetokounmpo

  3. Stephen Curry

  4. Luka Doncic

  5. Joel Embiid

  6. Kevin Durant

  7. Jayson Tatum

  8. Devin Booker

  9. Jimmy Butler

  10. LeBron James

  11. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

  12. Kawhi Leonard

  13. Anthony Davis

  14. Damian Lillard

  15. Ja Morant

  16. Jamal Murray

  17. Donovan Mitchell

  18. De'Aaron Fox

  19. Paul George

  20. Anthony Edwards

  21. Jaylen Brown

  22. Bam Adebayo

  23. Trae Young

  24. James Harden

  25. Pascal Siakam

My google doc link has over a hundred players listed if you want to see the full list. The list also shows how close the average is for a player. For example, Jokic > Giannis > Curry > Luka > Embiid is a pretty clear ranking, but Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum are super close in their ranking averages, and could easily change when the next list that comes out.

One fun thing to look at is the standard deviation of players (ie. how differently they are ranked). Here are 15 players nobody can agree exactly how highly they should be ranked.

  • Joel Embiid (Ranking Ranges from 3rd-9th)

  • Kawhi Leonard (8th-17th)

  • Jamal Murray (11th-26th)

  • Jaylen Brown (14th-32nd)

  • James Harden (19th-40th)

  • Zion Williamson (26th-51st)

  • Bradley Beal (20th-63rd)

  • Zach LaVine (26th-73.5)

  • LaMelo Ball (32nd-84th)

  • CJ McCollum (38th-86th)

  • Deandre Ayton (54th-UNRANKED on list of 111)

  • Austin Reaves (58th-109th)

  • Trey Murphy III (60th-120th)

  • Victor Wembanyama (58th-UNRANKED on list of 125)

  • Russell Westbrook (51st-UNRANKED on multiple lists of 100+)
