I don't mean endless DraftKings ads so much (or their ill-fated 9/11 promotions). I more so mean how it seems to now be a part of 'normal' sports media. Like podcasts I listen to for their analysis always seem to ramble on about whether the over/under is a steal or not. Articles from websites that in the past would spend half the article breaking down a team's run defense are now talking about what games spreads are most notable.
Tennessee's Special Teams coach and resident psychopath Mike Ekeler told the Knoxville Quarterback Club this week that Tennessee hasn't allowed a punt return yard in 15 consecutive games. Here's the last punt return yards given up by Tennessee.
There's been a lot of unrest about Tennessee's new punter Jackson "The Ambidextrous Aussie" Ross so Coach Ek dropped this knowledge bomb to calm the masses.
Furthermore, Tennessee was only one of three FBS schools to allow negative punt return yards in 2022 (joining Rutgers & Tulane) and is currently one of nine to allow negative punt return yards in 2023.
Edit: u/tannerite2 has pointed out that technically Quandarrius Robinson is credited for a 3-yard return vs Alabama in 2022 but he didn't actually return the punt - he touched it and Tennessee recovered the ball.
