TIL Shen Fu Tsong was the first recorded Chinese person to step foot in Britain. Tsong cataloged the Chinese collection in the Bodleian Library, showed the librarian how to hold Chinese books, and explained their contents. King James II had Tsong's portrait painted and hung in his bed chamber.

These indented cartoons were discovered by new scanning technologies in the 8th C. Eadburg book, a precious religious text (Acts of the Apostles) held at Oxford's Bodleian Library since 1659. More hidden impressions were discovered in manuscripts, copper printing plates and maps. Links in comments.
