I've been thinking. Wouldn't it make sense for the earth to be "god"/a god itself? It was birthed, formed everything precisely for us, and even though we can affect certain aspects, it has its own will. The earth is technically alive in some sense, it is very active, a lot is happening on and 'in' it that we just may not know about or can't do anything about. Everything had to form perfectly, there had to be this harmonious work done, just to house us. Just for us to be able to exist and keep existing. It feels really plausible that the earth is way more aware and alive than we give it credit for. I really feel logically that the thing responsible for our existence could be a being itself. Just not one we're used to.
I recall many years ago reading about some sort of materialist theory of God. It held that God might be thought of as consisting of some hitherto unknown "god-stuff". A type of energy/matter which more primitive humans referred to as a "spiritual substance" but which we moderns might consider a kind of energy or matter. Does this ring any bells for anyone? Any names or books dealing with this would be most appreciated.
