Canadian sports really get buried by their American counterparts. For example, Major League Soccer taking all the spotlight away from the Canadian Premier League. It was only recently that I realized the same thing happens in basketball. You may have heard of the Toronto Raptors, but apparently we also have the Montreal Alliance and Vancouver Bandits up here competing in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. This league is technically the largest one in the country, too, with ten teams against the nine in the CFL and eight in the CPL.
So, if you ever wanted to go local with basketball, you might have yourself a cool new option. Not a sports guy myself, but I do like seeing Canadian athletes getting more spotlight!
