It’s been a roller coaster year. Mostly good, I really will miss my fellow coworkers (except my SL and higher ups). $9/hr is not enough to live on and when you hire new people at $11/hr, don’t tell me you can’t bump me up to that too and really think I’m just going to take it.
I just want to shout out the community here for getting me through single coverage every damn day that I worked. As well as pointing me in the direction of where to look for something better. I start my new position as a bank teller next week. It’s not amazing, but they at least will pay me more than double the money. I’m pretty sure I’ll be making more than my SL now anyways.
To the rest of you, the ship is sinking. It’s just a job, this company has no love for you and is just hemorrhaging money to appease shareholders. I’m never stepping foot in another store; it’s time to let the company die.
When I started I was just desperate for anything that paid and took a seasonal GA position. It reignited my passion for gaming being around enthusiastic people of all different types. As well as breaking me out of my shell a bit and finally meeting more people locally and online who enjoy things I do like anime. I loved my guests and I loved working with the team, when GameStop would actually allow two of us to be there together. It was honestly a fun environment. I will miss that. I’m glad I can still still play with you guys. :)
Look, I’m a very empathetic person. And I care about people, but you cannot come to me, with trades, and pull the “I don’t even have gas money to go back home for a controller/HDMI cord/etc.”
I will help you out best I can, but if you come to me, expecting to do this trade, and you don’t have all the components I need, or you don’t have your ID, or whatever the case may be, do not get angry at me for YOUR bad decisions to drive to GameStop and not have the gas required to go back home and get the equipment I need to do this trade.
It’s happened too often, and trust me, I get your situation, and I feel for you. But stop using your choices as an emotional weapon to get what you want out of me.
If you wanted to know if you had everything you needed, I was 1 phone call away and I would happily of told you everything you needed to bring.
