SPOILERS IN THE DISCUSSION
So recently I saw the film "Bone Tomahawk." The movie is mostly a dramatic western, but it dips it's toes in the horror genre. It's written and directed by S. Craig Zahler. It stars Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Richard Jenkins and Lili Simmons.
Okay, so I went into this film not necessarily expecting anything great. But after watching it the for the first time, I found it immediately on my list of favorites from 2015. The script is fantastic, the story exciting but unhurried. The dialogue and acting is very compelling, and the cinematography is gorgeous. It has a very classic western feel.
I think the main reason this movie was disregarded by so many was the intense and gruesome act of violence towards the end. I won't say much because it's relatively disturbing, but in my opinion: it fits the story and juxtaposes the violence with the beauty of the western range.
Almost every bad review I read was about the "unnecessary" and "grotesque" violence. Personally, I can't judge a film by one scene, or a hand full.
Anyway, if you've seen this movie let me know what you think. Here's the imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2494362/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_1
