This is Amber Rudds tweet. It shows the video of a man called Charlie who she claimed was a happy universal credit claimant that couldn’t be more thankful for what universal credit has done for him.

Today a twitter user who recognised Charlie replied with this tweet which shows that Charlie has been an actor since 2013, even working for Sky. With pictures of Charlie the actor in various different roles.

TL;DR: The Tories have used taxpayer money to hire an actor to star in an advert and pretend to be a universal credit claimant to make out that universal credit is the best thing since sliced bread.

Edit: The Canary have done a piece on this which shows the various holidays and acting gigs Charlie has enjoyed over the last few years.

Edit 2: The original tweeter who discovered this now says he has talked to Charlie personally and Charlie told him he has never been on Universal Credit. Amber Rudd is now involved in a bit of a twitter row with Alex the original tweeter.
