I am in a 300 level course in internal Chinese politics and am struggling to come up with an adequate essay topic/question. My professor said the 10-12 page essay can be on anything we want (obviously dealing w/ internal chinese politics), and the style of essay can inhabit the space between a short research paper and an argumentative essay.
I am interested in the general topics of China’s institutional flexibility and capacity for mobilization, as well as ways they self-legitimize their government. However, I need a more specific angle, example to use as a framework, complex question, etc.
All my initial ideas are too basic and general, I want something a little more nuanced and original! My professor has not been any help (“just do what interests you!"), but he has high expectations. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you so much!
I see a lot of you here have majors in poli sci or are studying it currently, I don't want to pursue an education in political science because I don't want to use it in my career, but I want to study it for myself in my spare time, from what I can find online, it seems resources are reasonably hard to find, especially when you don't know what you're looking for, do you have any advices on this matter?
Idk if it matters but I'm from Romania and I majored in military engineering.
