I stumbled upon the implicit bias test last night and I'm a bit disappointed in my results. At first I was very skeptical of it working, but the tests said that I have a moderate bias for Biden over Trump (which I know is true) and no bias towards Asian people compared to white people (which makes sense since I was raised in a neighborhood with a majority Asian population).
On the test comparing white people to Black people I got that I have a moderate bias against Black people twice, a major bias once, and a minor bias once. Taking the average of those I guess it's safe to assume that I have a moderate bias.
I've been trying to learn more about anti-racism for about two years now, so I was hoping that would help with my bias's, but it seems like it hasn't, at least as the test is concerned. I have been more aware of the bias's that I know I have, and as a result have been able to recognize and change behavior that I once had as a result of those bias's, but in the end I feel like these bias's will always exist.
I also want to add in that my mental health has been the lowest it's ever been (due to a variety of reasons) and as a result I have been having guilt trips about things I have said/done in the past, so I'm not sure if that had any impact on the results.
So I guess my questions are: Is this test accurate? What can I do to lower/eliminate my bias's? Am I justified in feeling guilty for having bias's, or is this my mental health trying to make me feel worse?
