Been watching a lot of Blippi and Ms. Rachel lately with my toddler since we’ve been sick the past few days. Many episodes reference how firefighters need to sleep at the fire station so they can be close to the truck and their tools etc. in case of emergency. I can’t help but thinking… is it really faster to wake up and get ready and go? Wouldn’t it be faster and safer if firefighters worked 12 hours shifts like nurses and didn’t sleep while they were working?
Aren’t transistors physical things? How is it possible to manufacture billions, especially within the small size of a computer chip?
I saw the Apple m2 chip has 20 billion transistors - it just seems incomprehensible that that many can be manufactured.. they could be microscopic, but 20 billion is still an absurd number
Everything is in the question: we've all heard, during the pandemic, or at other times, of planes flying without any passenger to keep their slots and bet on future purchases of plane tickets to remain competitive. If many people decided to all of a sudden stop flying, what would it change in terms of the number of planes taking off? Would it be an effective solution to reduce the impact of the travel/flying industry? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: thanks a lot for all your answers and examples, this is very interesting, you're the best! <3
