Thanks for stumbling upon Pittsburgh Food, a new subreddit devoted to all things food in Pittsburgh. As of right now (8/29/15), I'm the only subscriber, so if you're here, you're in on the ground floor. I've stocked the front page with a handful of mostly old newspaper links about food traditions and history in Pittsburgh. That said, I want this to be a subreddit that celebrates Pittsburgh's past and present, while also looking to the future. Here's a non-exhaustive list of the types of posts I'd like to see here:
-
Pittsburgh-specific discussions about food, drink, recipes, restaurants, grocers, farms, farmer's markets, growers, festivals, events, and food traditions
-
Links to articles or blog posts about local food history and traditions
-
Recipes for Pittsburgh dishes
-
Stories about your favorite Pittsburgh food and holiday traditions
-
Requests and recommendations for places to find good food and ingredients
-
Reader reviews of local bars and restaurants
-
Angry tirades about what we don't have, don't do well, or should just stop trying to do
This sub is fairly primitive at the moment, but I'd like to make it into something nice. Let me know if you have any advice or suggestions for how to make it better or more interesting.
It was delicious food and nice service .
