For my class I need to write an informational research essay about something from the time period of hamlet that piqued our interest. I’m not really interested by anything that I can research realistically (so not ghosts) can y’all help me out with finding a topic? It has to be worthy of 3 pages
So, I have to choose 3 excerpts from "Hamlet" that are about his fight against evil, expand on them and explain why I think so. And I don't think I can come up with much that makes sense.
I'm guessing the first one is his fight against Claudius since he killed Hamlet's father, so Hamlet sees Claudius as evil. That one seems pretty straightforward.
And after that I'm not sure.
From what I'm getting he does think that humanity and the world are evil and he can't trust anyone. But I don't see much of a fight against the world, except him saying that there shall be no more marriages and him telling Ophelia to go to a nunnery, so there wouldn't be any newborns who would turn into bad people.
Then he also has a lot of inner monologue and fights against himself, I guess. I don't think he sees suicide as evil and he only doesn't do it only because he doesn't know what would happen if he did. But he does himself think that he's being inactive and thinking too much (which makes you a coward and that's bad?) about revenge but not actually doing anything. Then at the end of act 2 he finally thinks of a plan to move forward with figuring out whether Claudius killed his father. Does that count as him fighting against the bad/evil? Could I say that his inactivity is bad?
Do these make any sense? I don't know if I'm overthinking this. Sorry, if I really misunderstood or missed something.
