TIL during the Gulf War, the U.S. dropped a 6,800 kg BLU-82 bomb to conduct psychological warfare against Iraqi troops. A British SAS unit that witnessed the explosion assumed the U.S. had used a nuclear weapon and radioed back to their headquarters, "Sir, the blokes have just nuked Kuwait!".

7 tons of explosives for psychological effects.

I wonder what they will use when shit gets real.

I would like to point out that we still use the MOAB, a successor to the BLU which is more powerful.

The BLU was designed to literally chop down forests in Vietnam. The use of the bomb in the desert was purely psychological warfare, not to do true harm to the cities/people of Iraq. With no forests to dampen the shockwave, it was recorded as >4.0 on the Richter scale back in Europe. It’d be easy to interpret that shockwave as a nuclear explosion if close enough.

Carbon filament bombs that knock out 85% of your country's electrical grid. Then feint an amphibious assault. Then speed run into enemy territory.

Small groups of people to conduct political dissidence ops and overthrow governments, installing dictators who are favorable to them economically.

It takes longer, but it crits everytime.

I was told by a former Navy soldier that when they first started bombing Baghdad, right before while they were getting into position, AC/DC (I think he said) Hells Bells started playing louder than anything you’ve ever heard.

As a psychological warfare precursor to the bombs and missiles dropping.

Massive yield bombs are actually pretty useless in modern warfare. If you want to fuck up a city, you nuke it. If you want to fuck up a particular factory or something, guided low-er yield bombs are better.

They would only need a few grams of dmt for the same effects...

Same thing. Let's not pretend that the boys weren't trying out the expensive toys while they were allowed.

US military budget is insane. The US could fight the entire rest of world and never run out of ammo

It sure is cool that the US military likes to terrorize the rest of the world with the threat of nuclear annihilation.
