Assume money isn't a factor.
I am writing to warn others about my negative experience with Codefinity, a coding bootcamp company. I signed up for the company's in October 2022, which at the time was advertised as including access to all of the company's courses, career tracks, and resources. However, I soon discovered that I could not track my progress through the career tracks unless I subscribed to their "Ultimate Subscription". This subscription at the time was $144 January 2023, currently this "Ultimate Subscription" is $299.
I felt that this was unfair, as the career tracks are a core feature of the Coding Program. I contacted Codefinity customer service to complain, and Tina (Customer Service Expert) eventually offered to upgrade my subscription for free on March 16, 2023. However, I was disappointed that I had to fight for this, and how the company was not transparent in their marketing. I am concerned that other customers may not be as lucky.
In addition, on August 29, 2023, I logged into my Codefinity account and discovered that the "Python for Developers" career track had been removed. I had been working on this track for two months and was 60% complete. I was not given any prior notice of the removal, and I was not able to recover my progress toward their final certification.
I am extremely disappointed with Codefinity's handling of this situation. The company has shown a lack of respect for its customers by removing a course without warning and by charging extra for a basic feature like career tracking. I believe that Codefinity is engaging in bait-and-switch tactics, removing, editing and making changing in order to keep their subscribers to continue subscribing/renewing as their increase prices. I am warning others to stay away from this company.
I would like to see Codefinity take the following steps to address my complaints:
- Reinstate the "Python for Developers" career track.
- Stop charging extra for career tracking.
- Be more transparent about their pricing and policies.
I believe that these steps are necessary to make Codefinity a more fair and transparent company. I hope that other consumers will see this review and be warned about Codefinity's deceptive practices.
Overall, I would not recommend Codefinity to anyone. The company is dishonest and does not value its customers. I would urge others to stay away from this company and find a more reputable coding bootcamp.
**Update** -- I received an apology email from their Customer Success Manager (Lisa) on 8/30/23, stating she will get in touch with their expert team to clarify and also notified me that their team is on a holiday and to be patience with them. Four days later 9/3/23 they closed my ticket without any true response or solution. Fyi, they have also removed ticket reference # so you cant attach reference to many review sites now.
**9/11 Update** -- An customer service manager (Julia) reached out and offered one free month of subscription to resolve the issue. Upon declining their offer, they removed my current subscription which doesn't expire under February 2024. There is no cancel subscription under "billing" anymore but I have a feeling which other subscribers/reviewers had mentioned...where Codefinity will try to auto renew and request for recurring payments. I hope the public will read this and stay away from this company. Will have notify the bank ahead of time incase they try to draft payments.
