Hi all,
I just wanted to share this little story. My daughter and I have been picking away at It Takes Two for a couple months now.
It hasn't been quick or easy... but every few nights we would settle in together for some father daughter time playing. We set the goal of beating the game together about 8-10 weeks ago. It became a part of our routine and something we both really looked forward to. I only have my daughter 50% of the time... so it took us a bit.
There were challenges and frustrations... because it's not the easiest game for a 9 year old. Well last night we finally met our goal and got to those end credits. And our reactions couldn't have been more different.
As soon as the credits started rolling I started jumping up and down, excited that we beat it and proud of my daughter for sticking with it. As I celebrated I realized I was alone. And my daughter wasn't celebrating with me.
I looked behind me... and she was just sitting on the couch with tears welling up in her eyes looking incredibly sad. Then as the tears started to roll down her cheek she meekly asked "It's over?".
I don't think she realized the game would end. And it wasn't a happy experience for her because she loved the game so much and it has become such a big part of our routine together. I had to explain that games don't go on forever. But she should be proud that she beat it.
But she was inconsolable. It genuinely took her a while to calm down... I just wanted to tell this little story. The developers really created something special with this game.
