Over the years, Jeff Green has bounced around the NBA a lot. Itโ€™s not being rude to say he has had a hard time finding a home in the NBA. I could almost hear the younger version of myself judging him as a player who sucked, as one one of those whack NBA guys whose worn every NBA jersey, and put up mediocre statistics everywhere heโ€™s been. Not a star. But now I canโ€™t help but see it different. Because even though Jeff Greenโ€™s journeyman path through the NBA has been un-sexy, heโ€™s been able to keep a job in the league for 15 seasons, playing for eleven teams, and collecting a lot of paychecks.ย? Jeff Green is the opposite of a โ€œstarโ€ and thereโ€™s actually something cool about that.

Iโ€™m one of those people who has never liked the idea of working somewhere long term. Jeff Green, by choice or not, is that. Heโ€™s an NBA bunny, hopping around from job to job, team to team in his case.

By all accounts heโ€™s a stud of a teammate too. Players love balling with him, coaches love coaching him, heโ€™s great at what he does โ€” not the best who ever lived โ€” not a star, or superstar โ€” but solid โ€” and most importantly a professional. Every team he works for hires him for that skillset of professionalism. Heโ€™s one of those locker room guys who you can count on in a pinch when the young guy starts to get over his head and overwhelmed by a big moment, a coach in a jersey.

Heโ€™s a veteran, someone who the big name stars on your team know isnโ€™t going to fuck up when the defense gets tight.ย?

So why why canโ€™t he keep a job?ย?If heโ€™s so good, why canโ€™t he just sign a long term contract โ€” the ultimate NBA status symbol?

I think we all know thatโ€™s got more to do with team structure and the politics of team building than it does with a playerโ€™s skill. The fact that Jeff Green can survive in the NBA for 15 seasons on 1-2 year deals, is more than enough evidence of his talent and skill. In a professional ecosystem as cutthroat as the NBA, someone who has managed to do what Jeff Green has, he came into the league in 2007, the year AMCโ€™s Mad Men premiered, deserves all of our praise, all of the most expensive flowers we can throw at him.

Zach Loweโ€™s got that Luke Walton All Star Award thing, my vote goes to Jeff Green.

Let me know who you would nominateโ€ฆ

Trae has come out again and expressed his disappointment/frustration with not being on Team USA FIBA roster. What a surprise they couldn't run competent half-court offense and took TWO fat L's from the Select Team lmao.

Enjoy this Twitter clip thread of the super impressive Team USA performance: Takeaways/Clips from Team USA L vs. Select Team via @@nikotaughtyou. My personal favorite quotes "Hali has been invisible" & "Half court offense did not look great"

Remember When??? Trae Young maybe/not playing on the 2024 USA Olympic Roster?by u/Traditional-Site-760 in AtlantaHawks

I wonder what the Trae Young haters from this comment section ^ will come up with now ??

Although I like a lot of the players on the FIBA Roster, its ridiculous they snubbed Trae despite his multiple on the record statements about wanting to play. The Villanova gimmick is corny (Josh Hart??).. Jalen Brunson has been a fulltime starter/#1 option for ONE season, and Tyrese Haliburton also only has ONE season as a fulltime starter at PG/#1 option. Can someone explain why Austin Reaves is an actual Guard on this team?? And again.. Josh Hart?? I get that Trae is best with the ball in his hands, but FIBA hoops requires elite PG play, and Trae is simply better than any Guard on the roster (despite what the twitter hoops "experts" claim).

Not to mention, Team USA is clearly lacking an alpha (Trae). Brunson can act like that guy all he wants, but he's not good enough to be a Gold Medal #1 option. Anthony Edwards, who could fill the alpha role (and has the talent to).. well, Steve Kerr is bringing him off the bench in favor of Mikal Bridges.. Typical Team-USA Politics at it's finest. That's nice Bridges is 26, but he has less than 30 games of experience being a #1 option.

Am I being too petty in hoping this Team USA gets exposed in the FIBA WC? Bronze Medal (or less) would be hilarious. Ant & Brandon Ingram better step up or I won't be shocked when they lose to France & Canada.
