JC Sheitan Tenet has the world’s first prosthetic arm that is actually a functional tattoo gun.
Tenet lost his arm 22 years ago, and feared he would never realize his dream of becoming a tattoo artist. French engineer/artist JL Gonzal constructed the prosthetic, and now Tenet has his artistic medium as a literal extension of his body!
Gonzal has since been working on improvements to the design to give tattooing a more natural feel. Amazing, no?

Naomi Kizhner has designed a parasitic series of jewelry. These creatures of metal and glass (in theory) feed off the energy of those who wear them via pincers that reach through the body into the spine where they draw upon electrical nerve conductivity.
The line will not be going into actual production (I’d say this is fairly obvious, but one never knows in this society. Most of us already encounter plenty of welcome parasitism from mass produced objects).
I am SUCH a sucker for galaxy print clothing (or galaxy printed ANYTHING I guess). Starstuff Clothing now has a kickstarter campaign to vastly expand their range of items and significantly lower the price.
The company designs T-Shirts, Dresses, Tank Tops & Socks that feature the natural splendor of the Universe itself. They only use real celestial images, and the result is excellent. Even better, the threads themselves are dyed in their process, so these products don’t contain the characteristic stiffness of some printed shirts (I’ve certainly ordered a few from other companies and been sorely disappointed by that!).

Johannes Schulz created a vodka bottle with a 3 dimensional spine and ribcage running through it.
The product is intended to represent the drink “having a real spine to it.” But I think it’s a great design, no matter what the bottle contains.

While I don’t formally celebrate Easter (unless you count my obscene love for Cadbury Creme Eggs as a celebration…which I do), I love nothing more than the combination of great art and symbolism.
Pysanky are a Ukrainian tradition; eggs elaborately decorated using batik (dye resistant designs “written” in wax).
Every time I see these eggs I am awestruck by the thought, care and time dedicated to each one.

Many superstitions were attached to pysanky. Pysanky were thought to protect households from evil spirits, catastrophe, lightning and fires. Pysanky with spiral motifs were the most powerful, as the demons and other unholy creatures would be trapped within the spirals forever. A blessed pysanky could be used to find demons hidden in the dark corners of your house.
Pysanky held powerful magic, and had to be disposed of properly, lest a witch get a hold of one. She could use the shell to gather dew, and use the gathered dew to dry up a cow’s milk. The witch could also use bits of the eggshell to poke people and sicken them. The eggshell had to be ground up very finely (and fed to chickens to make them good egg layers) or broken into pieces and tossed into a running stream.
The cloth used to dry pysanky was powerful, too, and could be used to cure skin diseases. And it was considered very bad luck to trample on a pysanka–God would punish anyone who did with a variety of illnesses.
There were superstitions regarding the colors and designs on the pysanky. One old Ukrainian myth centered on the wisdom of giving older people gifts of pysanky with darker colors and/or rich designs, for their life has already been filled. Similarly, it is appropriate to give young people pysanky with white as the predominant color because their life is still a blank page.
Girls would often give pysanky to young men they fancied, and include heart motifs. It was said, though, that a girl should never give her boyfriend a pysanky that has no design on the top and bottom of the egg, as this might signify that the boyfriend would soon lose his hair.

Brace yourselves, folks. I’m about to post something exceptionally rare for this blog: neon colors. Zim and Zou have won me over with their outrageously skillful paper sculptures.
This color scheme actually reminds me of my wardrobe as a child of the 80’s…before I wore more dark apparel than any human reasonably should.
