The writers really aren't very creative when it comes to romance... Anytime a new couple gets together, that's how they describe their feelings 😆 in verbatim.
I have just finished watching Melrose Place and I can’t get the ending, I feel like they could have continued after we found out that Amanda and Peter ran away and faked their own death. Also the couple in the end didn’t make any sense for me, I mean Jane and Kyle? Why? for me Amanda’s best match was Kyle I thought they would have been endgame, also Jane and Michael. I just don’t get the ending and I feel like we didn’t get much information about everyone in the end. 🤔🤔Am I the only one who Thinks this?
Join us this Wednesday night at 8:00pm (Pacific Time) for our weekly rewatch/discussion board! Jake's ex Perry returns to tell him she has AIDS. This sends him into a panic as he tells Jo to get tested with him. Billy lies on his resumé in order to get a job as a magazine columnist. Alison officially returns and asks for her job back at D&D. Be there or be square!
Kimberly and Coop together makes no sense to me. Can anyone imagine them being together? Even if Kimberly still seemed like a different character when she was first introduced compared to who she becomes later in the show, neither seem like they would have been interested in him??! When Coop is confronted by Michael about the alleged "affair" he had with Kimberly, he reveals all that she told him about what Michael had put her through and goes on to claim that Kimberly was "the love of his life." Was this intended to be an entirely one sided relationship to foreshadow what happens later when Megan is somehow in a coma after being stabbed by Kimberlys mother? If they were attempting to make Coop out to be the crazy one they fell very short. Crazy Coop could have been far more interesting! Mentally unstable Coop who was obsessed by comatose Kimberly and invented an entire relationship in his head that never even happened could have gone somewhere. Crazy Coop noves to Los Angeles and could have gone on to pursue a relationship with Kimberlys mother in order to further his obsession all the while plotting revenge against Michael. Still kind of rings true to how they wrote it. Just add some mother/son sex scenes where he calls her "momma" while the guitar riff plays! After things go wrong and Kimberlys mother ends up attacking Megan, Crazy Coop begins to transfer his obsession with Kimberly to her. He pretends she is Kimberly and begins to convince her that she is in fact Kimberly when she awakens with temporary amnesia. She trusts and believes what Coop tells her. She is Kimberly! Coop reminds her of all Michael has done to her and convinces her that she needs to kill him in order to make things right. Megan, now believing and acting as if she is actually Kimberly takes a few notes from her previous attempts to kill Michael and strikes againl! This could have been a good storyline. But instead we just got boring and generic Coop for an entire season.

Hi all! Impromptu survey time - I host 90's to Now, an interview show where I chat with 90's stars. We recently had "Melrose Place" star Josie Bissett aka "Jane" on the show, and it got the wheels turning about doing something bigger. Theoretically, would you guys be interested in a "Melrose" rewatch podcast and/or Youtube show where we break down the show's episodes and storylines with the show's stars, writers and other popular personalities?
(Sorry for the super late announcement, life has been kind of kicking my ass lately.) Join us this Wednesday night at 8:00pm (Pacific Time) for our weekly rewatch/discussion board! Billy's father dies suddenly from a heart attack. His older sister Celeste comes to town to cheer him up. Alison also comes back for the funeral, and begins to have second thoughts about moving to Seattle. Meanwhile Rhonda continues to fume over Carrie trying to win over Terrance, and Michael helps Kimberly with a plumbing issue. Be there or be square!
Who was more the lead male actor
Sydney was part of Martin’s cult and befriended Rikki (Traci Lords). She’s been stealing everything from Jane’s dresses to Jo’s cameras. They’ve been blaming Sydney for everything that she didn’t do, Jake even fired her from Shooters. It’s ridiculous that they can’t see that.
Hello and welcome to our weekly rewatch/discussion board! Just as Amanda & Billy start living together, complications arrive due to their differing personalities. Alison decides to leave Melrose Place and go with Keith to Seattle (classic dumb Alison decision!). Also, Michael's friend Sam visits (aka not Kyle McBride) and ends up putting the moves on Jane. Come join the discussion!

I'm on the last Christmas episode of Melrose and totally forgot Amanda hired Hanson for the charity event. And Lexi saying, "Man if those boys were a little older I'd swear I'd take them all back to my condo." Eeeshh
Has this sub ever discussed the ages of the main characters? This is another thing that has confused me during my current rewatch.
When the show started, the main characters were supposed to be in their 20s.
-
At the beginning, Billy was fresh from college. In season 5, he's stated to be in his mid-20s, so I guess he was around 21, 22 when the show started.
-
Alison and Jake were probably one or two years older than Billy.
-
In season 4, Matt mentions that after finishing high school, he used to study medicine for a couple of terms, but dropped out of college and then started working at the Halfway House, so I guess he was around Alison and Jake's age.
-
Jane was supposed to be the youngest original character. She and Michael were said to be married for almost two years when the show started, and they moved to Melrose Place one year before the pilot took place. Michael must have been in his late 20s because he had already finished his medical studies and was an intern at Wilshire Memorial. However, in season 6, Jane and Michael met at their college reunion, which means they must have attended college at the same time. They were both part of the class of '88. (In real life, Josie Bissett and Thomas Calabro are 12 years apart.)
-
I guess Rhonda was around Michael's age, and Sandy was at least 21, I'd say (since she was working at Shooters and was serving alcohol).
-
According to her tombstone (which is shown in the season 6 premiere), Kimberly was born in 1967, so she was 25/26 when she first appeared and died at the age of 30. (Marcia Cross was born in 1962.)
-
Sydney still went to school in season 1. It was never stated what kind of "school" she went to. I would guess she was 19 in season 1.
-
Jo was Alison and Jake's age, I'd say.
-
Amanda is a tough case because her history was rewritten a lot over the course of the seasons and she could have been anything between 24 or 32 (= Heather Locklear's age when she joined the show) in the first couple of seasons.
During the first three seasons, the characters' ages seemed to fit the storylines, and the actors still looked quite young. However, once season 4 kicked in, the characters suddenly seemed way older and everyone seemed to have the most absurd careers/jobs. It's like everyone aged 10 years overnight due to the writing.
Amanda, Peter, Michael, Kimberly, Jane (in seasons 6 & 7) plus newbies Kyle, Taylor, Coop and Megan dressed and behaved like they were in their late 30s/early 40s. It didn't help that everyone was hanging out in a jazz club of all places. Even Craig, who was supposed to be fresh from college in season 5, didn't come across like a 21-year old guy (even though the actor was only 25 at that point).
What do you think?
Join us this Wednesday night at 8:00pm (Pacific Time) for our weekly rewatch/discussion board! It's trouble in paradise, when Billy and Amanda begin to have issues with their new living arrangement. Alison decides to leave town and follow Keith to Seattle. Michael's old friend Sam (not Kyle McBride), visits and hits on Jane. Be there or be square!
Currently watching Season 5's finale "Who's Afraid of Amanda Woodward," and seeing Sydney as an executive is pretty hard to believe 🤣 Even if she's dressed in pastel colored pant suits! It's even more absurd to see her working at D & D??! All of this is obviously from her relationship with Craig, and everyone knows what happened with that... Anyway, in one scene Amanda, Sydney, and Craig are presenting an ad pitch to Mr. Kroeger. Could it be Kroeger Grocery Stores? Since his company is never actually mentioned I guess we'll never know! After Amanda named her price, Sydney disputes it by claiming that she made a comparison between the figures Amanda quoted and last years costs and calls it all into question. Sydney did this?? 🧐 This sets up Craig and Sydneys next move which is to start their own agency. Craig and Sydney running an advertising agency??! Sydney is hardly leadership material and sorry to say but neither is Craig 🤭 But then again Sydney also already attempted to take over Jane's company earlier and of course she did the same during her time as a Hollywood Madam so maybe I'm underestimating her.
Had all the OG cast stayed until season 7 without any of the new characters added on, how do you think the show would have played out?
Could have made for 2 final juicy seasons and a much different season 5!
Omg. I'm on the episode, S6, where she's acts all righteous and tells Peter to play the tape to Lexi or she will. Like, who the f is she to force that? Oh, Lexi....listen to daddy dying. Megan found it on accident, decided to keep it, and try to force Peter to tell Lexi about it, then plays it for Lexi anyway...while in Peter's office. Megan....you were a call girl. Yes, you turned your life around, but you can't get all "noble" and think you can force people to do the right thing. Ugh. But Megan was fine with Coop f××king Michael over multiple times. Sorry, this was more of a vent
Did Hailey really love Alison or was it 100% fake to anger Billy and Brooke.
The storyline made no sense. Ya he wanted to break them up, but then it all flipped.
Hello and welcome to our weekly rewatch/discussion board! Alison is carjacked at gunpoint, and turns to Keith for comfort. Billy grows more distant and decides to move in with Amanda, who introdices him to her father. Rhonda is worried when the interior designer Terrance hires turns out to be her old roommate. Jo reveals that she owns a gun, which makes Jake uncomfortable. Come join the discussion!

I meant the Peter situation, not Kyle!
TV Line's 60 Best TV Villains. Our beloved Kimberly Shaw came in at 31. She's the only character from Melrose Place that made the list.
