This one features Sam, Liam, Erin, and John.
Ziggs VS Trigger Happy- Sam dislikes Ziggs because he sucks in Teamfight Tactics. Liam likes Trigger Happy’s design, and Sam says he looks like a Kirby enemy. Sam says he gets the vibe of the matchup, and notes how similar the two characters are to Rocket Raccoon.
Robin from Fire Emblem VS Terra from Final Fantasy- Liam and John are both Final Fantasy fans, with Liam liking VI in particular. John does not think Robin is as powerful as Terra (the others point out Terra is the most powerful FF6 party member), but does note Fire Emblem scaling goes pretty high.
Voldemort VS Daolon Wong- They like Daolon Wong’s mouth hand. Liam and John both like Jackie Chan Adventures, but Liam doesn’t remember Wong at all, and John seems to only vaguely remember him (he thinks Wong should be able to stand up to Voldemort’s magic, but is unsure if he could survive Avada Kedavra).
(Sam tells a funny story about getting involved in two other people’s Gandalf VS Dumbledore debate, and pointing out that Dumbledore was alive during the Holocaust, meaning he either allowed it to happen, or wasn’t powerful enough to stop it.)
Gappy VS Mollymauk- Sam says he doesn’t know a ton about Critical Role despite being a D&D nerd. Erin thinks it’s a fun matchup, and is into the idea of bringing in characters from Critical Role, or other similar tabletop playthrough series, but she also thinks Mollymauk loses badly. John and Liam talk about Go Beyond, Gappy’s final ability, which is so OP that some JoJo fans think it’s more powerful than GER. Erin points out that Mollymauk’s whole thing is dying and coming back repeatedly (in a way that isn’t really VS applicable). They think it’d be cool to actually collab with CR (Sam met Matt Mercer a long time ago, but doesn’t think that small connection would get them through).
Hanzo from Overwatch VS Takumi from Fire Emblem- Liam notes that Green Arrow VS Hawkeye was their last proper archery duel, and thinks more could be done with the premise animation-wise nowadays. Sam isn’t sure how to animate Hanzo, since he only has four moves in-game, though John points out that they’ve done Tracer and Widowmaker. Erin likes the matchup, and thinks Takumi wins.
(Liam says that he’d like to see Legolas and Robin Hood in DB, and everyone else agrees that Legolas would be cool. Liam Googles a matchup for Legolas, and finds Legolas VS Neytiri from Avatar, which he thinks is interesting.)
Seto Kaiba VS Kuroto Dan- Sam doesn’t know anything about Kuroto, and John doesn’t know much about him either despite being a Kamen Rider fan. Liam absolutely loves Kaiba, and assumes Kuroto is “the Kaiba of Kamen Rider”. They all like the matchup despite their unfamiliarity with Kuroto.
Kallen from Code Geass VS Ange from Cross Ange- It’s immediately apparent that none of them are familiar with Cross Ange. From reading the connections, Sam thinks the matchup seems thematically strong. Liam likes that it’s a mecha fight, and would like to bring in Code Geass.
Scott the Woz VS Scott Pilgrim- Sam doesn’t want to do Scott the Woz because he’s a real person, but John assures Sam that he has tons of feats. Sam suggests bringing Scott onto Death Battle Cast to argue for himself against Scott Pilgrim (everyone else is enthused about that idea), but reiterates that they generally shy away from real people on DB, especially ones that they likely may encounter in real life. Erin says that they’d be more willing to do real people if they have personas, like Randy Savage, but Sam isn’t sure how much of a character Scott the Woz is. They joke about participating in the YouTube boxing sphere.
The SCP Foundation VS The Bakery from Cookie Clicker- John thinks that, while the Bakery has a lot of crazy stuff, the Foundation only needs about five SCPs to win. It might be closer if the Foundation is just tasked to contain the Bakery without actually using any SCPs, but everyone still thinks the Foundation wins, given they can capture extra-dimensional SCPs.
First matchup for the next Banter is All Might VS Korosensei.
