Hello!

I post this once a year or so, but with SXSW now just ending this seems like a great time to post this as I’m sure despite the seething hatred for SXSW on this sub that some people actually attended the free shows and may have seen some local bands and are looking to discover more local Austin music.

I run the ATX METAL and ATX ROCK Spotify playlists, which are the largest and most comprehensive playlists dedicated just to bands of the genres in the Austin area.

I’ve tried my best to populate the playlist with not only the most current bands, but also just any bands from Austin’s history that I could find.

The playlist is updated every week or as often as new music is released or new bands are added. I’m also working on trying to figure out additional ways to serve the Austin music scene by promoting shows, interviews, and contests. This is all just an individual effort on my end. I’m not paid by anyone to do this. I’m just a big fan of the scene and I want to share it with anyone who will listen.

So yeah if you’re into those genres and are a Spotify user you should definitely check out the playlist. There’s a lot of really awesome bands right here in town you might not be aware of. We maintain a very active scene and these bands would really appreciate your listens and follows.

You can also find ATX rock and ATX metal on Instagram for additional social updates related to the music scene here and updates on the playlists 🤘🤘
