I got two offers in NYS. Job 1 is prek-2. I will be making $49k a year with full benefits. It's a suburban area with 500 students and a pretty close knit community, which I like. I'm more drawn to this job, because I've been told how amazing admin is and how much the arts are valued. Which I believe because I met the superintendent and he was proudly talking about the accomplishments of the art teachers, and how he was going to an event in a local art museum honoring the personal work of the middle school teacher. Student work was all over the district office. Job 2 I've been told has pretty unsupportive admin that has sort of screwed people over the past year. It is another suburban area. I'd be k-2 for a full half year, and then switch every other day starting in January between k-2 and 9. The art department was amazing to me, and everyone is friendly. They are offering $61k a year along with full benefits. I like that I would be working with the younger and older kids, which is why I like this offer as well. The pay difference is huge. I have a masters degree and will need to be paying off loans, rent, and a whole bunch of other things. Ive been told job 1 is paying me on the low end of a bachelors salary. But I don't want to be miserable at my job like some are saying I would be under the current admin just for $13k more. They recently moved the art department around a lot and the teachers over there were unhappy about it. Idk what to do or who to choose. What would you guys do? They need an answer tomorrow morning. Thank you!!
