**PLEASE READ: ** r/gameofthrones is **shutting down indefinitely** in solidarity with other subreddits and 3rd party developers due to reddit API changes. **All modmails asking to be approved or to join the subreddit will be ignored.** We planned to be back after 48 hours, however unfortunately Reddit leadership is not taking the situation seriously, so we are joining other subreddits to remain closed until an acceptable solution is reached.

Tragically, this once vibrant community split into David Benioff fans vs. Dan Weiss fans and is now closed.

This book is a grim adventure story that reminds me of the film 1917. It would make a good movie, which makes sense given his history writing for television and film. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm1125275/fullcredits

A couple chapters into the book, two young men meet in prison after breaking curfew during the siege of Leningrad. They are assigned a mission in lieu of punishment by a corrupt officer. The war, the starvation, the soviet and nazi millieu are well depicted, brutal and sad, but the focus is on our young protagonists and their adventures. I highly recommend this book. Benioff is a professional skilled writer and I hope he writes more novels.
