This news comes via the Puck newsletter and Hollywood Reporter.

The film is semi-autobiographical and based on Nancy Meyers' own life. It's about a writer-director who falls in love with a producer, breaks up with him, but is forced to work with him again when a great project comes along. Owen Wilson and Michael Fassbender are also on board.

Matt Belloni at Puck is baffled by the massive budget. He points out that another Netflix rom com starring big names, "Your Place or Mine", starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, cost only half that.

And this movie may cost even more! Nancy Meyers recently went back to Netflix and demanded that they up the budget to at least $150 million, saying that the movie can't be made for less. So far, Netflix is holding firm to 130 mil. This leads me to think that a lot of that money isn't just taken up by the salaries.

Up until now, the most expensive rom com ever made was 2010's "How Do You Know", starring Reese Witherspoon, Jack Nicholson, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson (he's a staple in expensive rom coms, apparently). The budget for that one ballooned due to director James L. Brooks' slow production process and reshoots, coming out at $100 million+.

So what do you think? Where is all that money going in this Nancy Meyers' film? Maybe she intends to fully shoot all the films-within-a-film?
