Question for experienced film shooters if I may by oschebell in AnalogCommunity

That's a bummer! I take it a diopter on the FM3a wasn't cutting it? I've heard the F3HP is near perfect for folks with glasses.

If you have to ask, then yes. General rule of thumb for buying on the 3rd party market.

I wouldn't call it "elusive." It's pretty easy and cheap to obtain.

Smaller, lighter than the F3. Has a normal, universal, hot shoe (F3 needs a weird adapter.) The light meter is from the early 2000s so it's quite a bit better than the F3. DX code reading. 1/4000 highest shutter speed (F3 is only up to 1/2000 and can only shoot 1/60 mechanically.) Take the batteries out of an FM3a and you can still shoot it at every speed. I think it looks way better than an F3. The only things I miss is the grip and that buttery smooth shutter advance on the F3.

As someone that shot an F3 for years, have you ever tried the FM3a? Better in almost every way. Fully mechanical up to 1/4000.

New hive bearding by ZachUttke in Beekeeping

Get rid of the entrance feeder. Entrance feeders are BAD. Also, this isn't bearding. Just normal warm weather activity.

I'm not weirded out by this at all, for some reason. I think my weird gauge may be broken with the amount of internet I browse.

If you removed all of the wax/honey then bleached the frames. I guess you could.

Natural bearding freaks you out? Try a bigger opening for the entrance.

New beekeeper. Just found out neighbor is allergic. by tterwilliger in Beekeeping

[–]personalhale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First thing my neighbor said when he saw I had bees (after years of having them) was that he was allergic. He was trying to imply that I shouldn't have them. I just responded that I was also allergic and they've been there for years. If someone is allergic to bees, they're not much more at risk with your hives near than they are just walking in the park.

This wasn't a tough decision at all. Everyone had their preference. I was Toad for speed and Bowser for battle.

That's the opposite of what Jamiroquai was in the late 90s-early 00s. Highly recommend listening to some of their hits if you haven't! I mean everyone remember the Napoleon Dynamite dance scene, right? That was Canned Heat by Jamiroquai.

It's wild just how vulnerable human babies are compared to most other species. Takes us quite a while to walk and even feed ourselves.

Single or double brood box for newbie? by VolcanoVeruca in Beekeeping

[–]personalhale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always done double deeps. Faster and higher volume honey production and if their numbers reduce enough over winter, I can fall back on reducing the hive and still have solid numbers left.
