Geopolitics is focused on the relationship between politics and territory. Through geopolitics we attempt to analyze and predict the actions and decisions of nations, or other forms of political power, by means of their geographical characteristics and location in the world. In a broader sense, geopolitics studies the general relations between countries on a global scale. Here we analyze local events in terms of the bigger, global picture.

This may be a long post but I urge every body from every ethnicity to give it a read please. I want to give my perspective .I spaced it out to make it easier to read. Trigger warning for violence incase needed.

I usually rarely ever talk about my ethnicity but I felt that mentioning this is relevant for context. I wanted to give my perspective as to why Ethiopia needs to be dismantled effective immediately to save the most amount of lives possible.

Growing up I was always surrounded by friends and family who identified as either Amhara/Abyssinian or Afar. The country of Ethiopia means little to me except a title.

When the Tigray war offensive started in the span of weeks my entire family from all sides were brutally affected . My 8 year old cousin who is Afar was doused in Acidic chemicals and his entire right side of his face is completely disfigured. My Afar relatives are completely displaced and their cattle was stolen. When lalibela was captured my first cousin and his sister were kidnapped. The Tigray forces then took turns raping her while they forced him to watch. They continued to mock him for not being strong enough to defend her. In March, the brother(my cousin) would take his own life by jumping off a cliff. The After she was raped she tried going to the hospital but all the roads and infrastructure was destroyed by the tplf. When she got there 2 weeks after the incident the entire hospital was looted.Their entire family is completely destroyed by the action of one ethnic group.

How am I as a half Amhara/Afar supposed to ever see a Tigray person the same let alone as my countryman. How can anybody from Amhara/Afar ever shake hands with a Tigray?

My opinions did not start after the war. As an Amhara I have always supported Ogaden secession for many reasons. Some family members who were “proud Ethiopians” always looked at my views weird even though it made sense for the Ogaden to be independent. Although, Somalis make up the third largest ethnic group in the country anyone with a brain understands that they will never fully be represented in Ethiopia as the political system does not care for them. Many ethnic groups don’t see them as Ethiopians and they themselves don’t identify as Ethiopians and have always wanted secession . Imagine the pain these Somalis have went through to be forcefully kept in this country: starvation , sexual violence , puppet leaders and so on. They are getting replaced from their cities like dire dhaba and their own regional capital of jigjiga. Why make this ethnic group suffer so much to be kept in a country they don’t even want to be apart off?

Ethiopia’s ethnic problems is laughably bad even for a 3rd world mostly underdeveloped African country. Amharas get killed like chickens in oromia every week while their culture is simultaneously stolen by that same group. Every ethnicity and religious group hates each other and this country can’t go one week without another massacre regardless of race. In the last year let me list the ethnic and religious conflicts : Amhara v oromo , Tigray v the whole country, Gumuz v Amhara, Somali v Afar , Nuer v Anyuak , Gumuz v Oromo, Orthodox split and the recent Muslim conflict. Let’s not forget that every region has atleast 1-2 armed militia groups running around.

The worst part is this is just the tip of the iceberg. I have 100s of more stories and more to say but I don’t want to drag it. The pain, resources and suffering that is needed to keep this country a float is simply not worth it. It would be better to dissolve now peacefully than starting a forever war between every ethnic group.

In conclusion, there is no way to balance this country fairly to represent the many diverging ideas, religions and ethnicities in this country. Better to dissolve peacefully now than later violently.

I promise that there is a rebuttal to every argument on why Ethiopia should stay together. I may keep posting this until I am satisfied with enough answers.
