I’m a guy from England, loosely followed nba for a few years and always been into the hills (big mj fan) but kinda hard given the times games are on over here. Started using this thread to try keep up to date and in the loop with what’s going on, any thing I should know that I could show off about to my friends over here😂
How do we feel about Dalen and Julian getting minutes this year. Ayo might be back and he’s gonna get minutes. Caruso, Coby, and Jevon gonna get minutes. That kinda covers the guards minutes along with Zach. Since Caruso can play Forward he along with Demar, Craig and Pat will cover most of those. I liked Dalen a lot when he played he made an impact. Idk if he can play the four I’d like to see him play but I don’t see a lot of mins rn. Julian with being a rookie might not see a lot either. They both play the Forward positions (pause) but I don’t know what the bulls would do. Should we play them and if we do over who?
Would professional sports and specifically the NBA be better off with a hard salary cap and no long term contracts? Here's my thought. The hard salary cap would stop teams from buying multiple superstars and no long term contracts (everyone plays on a one year deal) would help accomplish parity (no team could outspend the others drastically). Is it possible (players union not withstanding) would it work? Would it put much more in to player development? Your thoughts.
Considering two tickets in the 200 level for the season. I’d probably go to and gift a handful of the less popular games and sell the rest. Would I be looking at a potential loss or is there a chance to break even?
For all the doomsayers in the game threads declaring Dalen a bust after a summer league game or two, let me explain why y'all need to caaaaalm down:
First of all, the kid is only 20 years old. When Dalen was drafted, he was considered a long term play - he was a project player even compared to other 19 year olds.
Secondly of all it's summer league - players are playing outside their roles and coaches are trying new things just to throw shit at a wall and see what sticks. Terry has some nice vision and athleticism, so there's always going to be some intrigue to see if he develop into an actual PG, but it was never going to happen in a year. PG is the hardest position to transition to the NBA - players that have been running the point their entire lives and get drafted as PGs usually take a couple years to really adjust to running NBA offenses.
Teams like Miami and Denver have proven the value in prioritizing the development of young guys and finding a place in the rotation for them while their still on their rookie contracts. Obviously, a lot of that burden falls on the young guys to put in the work and improve, but a big chunk of responsibility falls on the front office/coaching to put them in positions to succeed too. If Dalen is in our rotation this year, which I still think he has a chance to do, he's going to be a connector player, not a PG. He's going to be in there for hustle, defense, making the right passes within the flow of the offense, and hopefully knock down open shots when gets them.
