In movie "Pretty Woman", Richard Gere drives a Lotus. Apparently the movie people wanted a Ferrari but Ferrari didn't want to be associated with prostitution.

Had no problem with the Testarosa surrounded by hookers and blow on Miami Vice though.

To be fair, I don’t think the Lotus fit Richard Gere’s character in this film.

FIRST LOOK: Cadillac Celestiq – America’s £300k Rolls-Royce And Bentley Rival

ahbearcat
commented

About $200,000 too expensive. Cadillac does not have the brand cachet to charge these prices, and while it’s an attractive car, it’s not timeless like a Rolls or Bentley. GM needs to mass produce this like Mercedes and BMW make the S Class and 7 series. Exclusive, sure, but attainable enough that people know they exist and believe they have a shot at owning one.

"Ahead of its time" is a phrase often used for cars. A little too often perhaps, but which cars were really ahead of their time and why?

I know it’s a controversial car, but the 2002 7 series was very innovative. Introduced keyless ignition and Idrive.

If you want to buy a gun, you should have to take a test and get a license that proves you know how to safely operate a gun in public, and god forbid you hurt someone, you should have to have insurance that makes the victim whole again, if possible. We have the same thing for cars.

What good are our scientific discoveries if we can’t do anything with them. The business men package new innovations into products people want, which funds the scientific research.

Men, which decade would you want to relive? Why?

ahbearcat
replied to ro1jo

I don't know what your taste is, but IMO that period was excellent for cars. Automakers were coming out of the malaise era and figured out how to put power back into cars. You had the ZR1, Diablo, V12 engines started gaining popularity. Also had the introduction of Japanese cars like the Supra, 300zx, and LS400.

The surrounding areas of most of the FIFA 2026 stadiums are pretty awful, but a few are nice at least.

I live in KC and I am excited! Tailgating for a World Cup game will be something else, and its worth noting that we have much more dense stadiums in the KC region where other games will be at.

McDonald's stock price drops after CEO promises affordability during latest earnings call

They need to go back to the basics. Their core menu items have seen an increase in price and a decline of quality while they have wasted resources on marketing gimmicks like the Grimace Shake and Travis Scott meal. No reason fries should cost $4.60 and my burger is cold.
