[Highlight] Today marks 59 days until the 2023 NFL Season starts! Let’s remember when Reggie Bonnafon made the color commentator eat his words on this 59 yard TD run against the Jaguars back in 2019. Panthers win, 34-27.

Here's the poetic rhythm/meter of every NFL team name

Offseason Post

Do you remember reading a Shakespearean sonnet at some point in high school and learning from your teacher that it was "iambic pentameter"? That means the syllables were alternating between unstressed and stressed, like, "a YUMmy CHOC-late FOUN-tain". The exciting part is that there are many more meters and rhythms than iambic pentameter, and many of them reveal themselves within the names of our favorite NFL teams. It's important to note that to qualify, it has to complete each foot of its meter, (12 34 56, not just 12 34 5). Let's take a look!!!!!!

AFC

PITTSburgh STEELers - Trochaic Duometer

CINcinNATi BENGals - Trochaic Trimeter

BALti-more RAvens - nothing

CLEVEland BROWNS - nothing

HOUSton TEXans - Trochaic Duometer

IND-i-an-A-po-lis COLTS - Nothing technically, but Indianapolis itself is dactylic duometer

If NFL players had to play both sides of the ball, who does what?

A similar post had a response that touched on the thorniest issue - what position would the 5th o linemen play + what is the QB going to do?

Some other things to consider. Assuming both receivers match with the corner spots, who is playing free safety? And what position does it make sense for the running back/full back to play considering they are usually the shortest player on the field.

Finally, would you prefer a product like this over the XFL? I would!

NFL Games that could have played out differently with or without the 2PC

Prior to 1994, an 8 point margin meant you led or trailed by 2 scores

That year the NFL added the 2 point conversion and all of a sudden 8 points was now a 1 possession game

Which got me wondering which NFL games prior to 1994 you recall may have played out differently if there was a 2PC

NFL games after 1994 that could have been very different without 2PC

Example:

1990, the Bills scored 3 touchdowns in 77 seconds against Denver to go from trailing 21-9 to leading 29-21

But Elway led a late TD and under today’s rules the comeback king would have had a shot to tie the game instead of having to onside kick down 1 at 29-28

On the flip side:

SB 38, if Carolina doesn’t leave points on the board with the missed 2PC’s, they have a late lead and perhaps they play the last drive differently (Kasey likely doesn’t kick it out of bounds)
