"I think the problem Digg had is that it was a company that was built to be a company, and you could feel it in the product. The way you could criticize Reddit is that we weren't a company – we were all heart and no head for a long time. So I think it'd be really hard for me and for the team to kill Reddit in that way." --Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit, April 2023 https://www.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/13yh0jf/dont_let_reddit_kill_3rd_party_apps

/r/GreenBayPackers has gone private in protest of Reddit's recent behavior and proposed API price hikes, which will heavily impact accessibility features, moderation abilities and third-party applications. There is no need to message the mods for access: the sub is private for everyone as we "go dark" in protest of the upcoming changes. 6 years ago, /u/shamsterwheel asked this very question, and I thought it would be good to re-visit this in the present.

Some of the answers from that thread 6 years ago included: the referee lockout, clamping down on TD celebrations, DeflateGate, and repeating the same generic Super Bowl logos.

So recently, what do you think are some poorly made decisions by the NFL?

Some ideas that come to mind for me:

  • Mishandling the Deshaun Watson punishment

  • Mismanaging the Dan Snyder allegations and failing to punish sufficiently

  • Briefly permitting the challenge of DPI calls-- but refusing to overturn any of those challenges.

What are some dumb decisions made by the NFL in recent years, in your opinion?
