I’ve got an X-Pro3 and I am after a Portra 400 recipe to use. There are a couple but I am not sure which one is more accurate to the actual film stock. Any recommendations would be great!
So as the title says I found a Gfx 50s ii with 5k shutter for 3950 canadian (<3000 usd). Comes with the kit 35-70 too.
Looks in good shape! Currently own an x100v. Only thing that bums me about it is 1080p video. I don’t use video often, but sometimes I like to make instructional for my university etc.
Part of me is also nervous that I won’t be able to resell it. I live in Toronto so hopefully there’ll be a market for it down the road nonetheless.
Should I pull the trigger on it? Also considering an a7iv for a similar price but faster lens.
Thanks so much in advance
Anyone considering buying this lens second hand should think twice. Do a quick search of fuji forums to find that they very often fail with age.
My copy is 8 years old. No drops. Very light use. I purchased it for travel because of its smaller size. When I am home or shooting professionally I use other (non fuji) camera systems. So 10 - 11 months of the year it sits snugly in a pelican case next to my other fuji gear.
It's unfortunate because we invest hundreds of dollars and we trust the companies to make lenses well so they will last a decade or more. This is the only lens ive ever owned that has failed without any abuse or damage. in researching the issue I found this problem is not at all uncommon. The lens just dies well out of warranty. It can't be used manually, it can't function with "shoot without lens", it's too light to even serve as a paperweight.
Fuji will do a repair but for $200. Hardly makes sense on a $450 lens that looks brand new still. They seem to ignore the fact that this is an issue with a great number of owners. And as time goes on, more will continue to fail.
Fuji should really consider doing a recall.
Over the years ive really come to trust Canon, Zeiss and Nikon. If you take care of the equipment it will just keep going for you. My 20 year old EF "nifty 50" still runs strong. I think it was $100 brand new.
This issue has really made me think twice about fuji's longevity.
