I have been using the How To Secure A Linux Server guide for quite a while and wanted to learn Ansible, so I created two playbooks to automate most of the guides content.
The playbooks are still a work in progress.

Module execution issues

Hello. I am a beginner and currently learning ansible. I have a list of tasks to perform in an azure windows virtual machine. I am running these tasks in a playbook. All of them are working fine except the task to stop windows update service. I have tried various methods to do it like -

name: Stop Windows Update Service win_command: net stop wuauserv register: out2 vars: ansible_shell_type: cmd
name: Stop windows update win_shell: Stop-Service -Name wuauserv -Force vars: ansible_shell_type: powershell

They are executing in control node but the windows update service is not stopping in the VMs. What am I doing wrong ?

I'm automating few things in ansible using tower APIs. I have an approval step in my ansible template and is there a way to get the workflow approval job id using the source workflow job id?

When to use collections over primitives?

So I'm currently hacking on a VPS setup with some of the usual infra components we know and love: nginx for reverse proxy, prometheus and grafana for monitoring and docker.

During the initial build of that project I found myself looking at the collection for nginx and was quite put off by it, as well as the one for grafana.

I instead opted to use ansible primitives like ansible.builtin.copy, ansible.builtin.apt or ansible.builtin.systemd instead.

Am I doing it wrong?
Why do these collections exist in the first place?
Is it perhaps a matter of scale?
