My boyfriend (M26) and I (F24) have been together for 10 years. Some back story we met in high school and have been together ever since. I have been a bigger girl and was never comfortable in my own body but the last few years I’ve been working out and losing weight and feeling more confident in my body and have changed my style a lot as well. My boyfriend on the other hand has always been very skinny and fit and supportive of me. Recently though he has been getting upset at me for my clothing choices. He says that I wear stuff too short, tight (mainly my biker shorts that i wear) or shows to much cleavage. That i shouldn’t go out in public without a bra on either. But i feel comfortable in my body and wanna wear cloths that make me fell good and that are comfortable. Also sometimes i just don’t wanna wear a bra because they suck! Also when i don’t wear a bra it’s mainly with over sized t shirts or hoodies never anything see through or tight fitted.

I’m not sure where this is coming from and when we talk about he tells me he feels uncomfortable and doesn’t want anyone else to look at me in public when i wear these clothes. We always end up in an argument and he ends up leaving or just staying mad. I’m not sure what to do? Should i just throw out the clothes that make him uncomfortable?

I’ve also asked others if my clothing was to short or inappropriate and all always say no. I also don’t let them know why I’m asking i just want others unbiased opinions.

Also most of my “short” clothing are at fingertip length or just about to be fingertip length.

As for the cleavage part i mainly wear tank tops and or halter tops but my boyfriend doesn’t like that. I’m not sure what to do besides wear a sports bra and/or T-Shirts only.

This as been a continuous and common argument within our relationship and my boyfriend thinks I’m being unfair to him and his emotions by not dressing properly or taking his concerns and uncomfortably about my clothing choices seriously. He always says he’s just looking out for my safety and knows how other guys think. I’m not sure what to do or say anymore at this point. He also said i should compromise for him since he’s made compromises for me in the past. Any advice or help will be helpful! Thanks.
