Did anyone watch this year? I haven’t watched the awards in years and decided to tune in. I was extremely disappointed. I remember there was a time when it was a celebration of black culture and so many A list celebs were there. They used to have Beyoncé, Halle Berry, Rihanna and much more in attendance.

Now there’s performances from mediocre artists. ( As much as I enjoy Latto’s music, her performance wasn’t good. She was clearly lip singing and made no attempt to hide it). Z-list reality stars sitting front row (why was Natalie Nunn and Chrisean Rock there?) JT from city girls, cursing Lil Uzi Vert out and throwing her phone at him in the audience. Apparently this was over Ice Spice, idk 🤷🏽‍♀️ Cell phone clips of explicit and vulgar lyrics of Pound Town rapped next to gospel singer Bobby Jones. They were twerking right by him and he looked disgusted.

Patti Labelle not knowing Tina Turner’s lyrics during a tribute. Was there no rehearsal for any of this?! They kept blaming the writers strike for a lot during the show, since there wasn’t a host, there was lots of awkward moments and pauses in between. I’m just confused at what this has turned into. I hope Tyler Perry can resurrect the awards and bring it back to what it once was. There was some good moments. I enjoyed seeing migos reunite and honor take off, Coco Jones performances & seeing how humbled and grateful she was to win an award (she deserves it so much ) & Busta Rhymes being honored, but nothing else stood out to me.
