There’s no words to describe how I’m feeling because i just feel like I’m in a fog and it doesn’t feel like real life. A week ago he was happy and running around. He got lethargic so we went to vets and emergency care. He got X-rays and nothing showed up. When he was still not well they X-rayed again and saw he had a small foreign object.

The surgery ended up with lots of complications so I don’t know if he will make it. They say every day is critical. The surgery was over 12 hours ago. I got to spend about 2 hours with him this morning and I’ll spend more time tonight.

I don’t know what to do with myself. He’s my entire world and my heart has never felt this much pain. Not even when I lost my grandmother or uncle who I loved so much.

I hope against hope he will make it but the vets are worried about the intestines opening or breaking down again so just have to sit and wait and hope it doesn’t happen.

Euthanasia

I've had 7 dogs over my life, 2 are still with me. When the time came when they were too miserable to go on, I never had the guts to be there during the procedure. A couple of days ago, I took my 14 yr mutt in to be euthanized due to his cancer returning after being removed about 6 months ago. This time I sucked it up was there, nose to nose, telling him I loved him as they did the injections. I feel a huge difference in losing him from the way I handled it before. I'll never not be there again.

Picky eater or something wrong??

My dog is 2 years old and has always been a picky eater.

She refuses to eat unless I sit in the floor and dab a little peanut butter on her food and hand feed it to her.

She won’t eat when we first get up. I’ll try to offer her food and she’ll refuse.

At times I have to dab food on her lips for her to lick it off so she’ll get a taste of it and remember that she likes it.

The only dog food I can even get her to eat is the Purina moist and meaty. I know it’s not good for her.

I’ll also cook her chicken and beef sometimes and it’s the same thing. It’s like she has no appetite, but when I’m able to get her a little taste she suddenly remembers she likes it and will eat.

I’ve tried dog food toppers, baby food etc. she’ll lick the toppers and baby food off or spit out the dog food.

What is wrong with my dog? The vet says she’s healthy and it’s nothing medical but I’m really starting to wonder if she is ill.

Nickname for my dog?

Hi everyone, my dog has a special name that my family holds dearly, but everyone else always pronounces it wrong. We're trying to find any nicknames for her so that people could pronounce at least her nickname correctly. Her name is Harumi and she's a golden retriever.

What to expect with a 1 yr old golden retriever?

Hi all,

I have seen a lovely 1 year old female golden retriever that needs rehoming.

I’ve done lots of research on other breeds but even though they’re super popular, I don’t know much about the specifics of the breed.

What could I expect with a 1 yr old GR?

Is the worst of the puppy/adolescent stage passed?

Are the energy levels through the roof?

Barking levels?

Prone to separation anxiety or can they handle a few hours alone?

I know she’s toilet trained but not crate trained.

About me: I live in a 300 sq foot apartment* with a balcony and lift - third floor.
