Posts about AFC Ajax
Automod removed my post because some words I used triggered R4.
In this post, I am analyzing the Club Selection AFC Ajax 6 Mar '23 pack using the Mimo's Rating framework v2. Mimo's Rating is an alternative rating to Overall Rating for a card's ability as a generalist of a position. Here's a link to my compilation of other resources on EFootball Knowledge.
Due to the quantity of questions I get I might be unable to answer questions like 'how does this player compare to that'. EFHub has a very good comparison tool that you should check out.
Also you might see a slight rating change as I just updated the base cards. As a lot of base cards got nerfed in the past data pack (~last month) the rating goes slightly up (+0.1-0.2) on average. The nerf does not affect base cards you purchased before the data pack though, but many cards are now significantly weaker.

The star of the pack is unquestionably Timber. Significant buff to most non-defense stats. It's unfortunate that this card arrives after the speedy wing nerf, otherwise it would be somewhat meta.
As a CB, Timber is speed. However I think his weak physical contact and aerial ability will hold him back. So the use-case for him probably is 3ATB where he can get away with his lack of aerial ability and can utilize his speed well.
There is another use-case of Timber that is at RB. His playstyle would be inactivated and his defensive stats look great while he is not too slow either. Since we would be using him for defense I don't think we have to change the training from default for this use-case.

Fun little fact is that for a long time, I thought Tadic was the most versatile player with full familiarity at 7 positions(RWF, LWF, CF, LMF, RMF, AMF). However, as I get more data from pesdb there actually are a couple of players with familiarity at 8 positions like Hasan Al Haydos from Al-Sadd(Santi Cazorla's current team), Lee Syung Kyi from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, Paterson from Swansea, and Decordova-Reid from Fulham.
Still all these players are rated quite lower though, so Tadic is still one of the most versatile players with full familiarity at 7 positions
When POTW Tadic came out he was the AMF choice for many people because good AMF were so rare then.
This version, while better than base, seems weaker than NC version and POTW versions.
I would say his stats fit AMF the best as his slower speed wouldn't hurt him. However he wouldn't be bad at LWF/RWF/LMF/RMF either. Just don't use him at CF.
While he is slow he can cross quite well, so people intending to use him on the left wing might add a couple more points to his passing. Not a bad choice for cross-spamming people.
https://i.redd.it/spzg742ni1ma1.pnghttps://i.redd.it/gtt917loi1ma1.png3. Berghuis 94 - A- Tier
Physical but slow winger. Great curl, great lofted pass with pinpoint crossing so I think the usage is clear -- cross spamming at LWF.
https://i.redd.it/y7iiiryji1ma1.png4. Brobbey 92 - A- Tier
Very average stats but good profile for Goal Poacher -- fast, physical, decent aerial ability. Reminds me of Osimhen but he's two-footed. Unfortunately D-Form this week.
https://i.redd.it/2n5w15vgi1ma1.png5. Wijndall 91 - B+ Tier
Very standard profile for offensive fullback. Nothing noteworthy about stats. Standard form.
https://i.redd.it/pik1agkei1ma1.png6. Rulli 92 - B Tier
Standard form and bad catching. Good Reflex but nothing special.
https://i.redd.it/y0dayy3ci1ma1.png7. Bergwijn 91 - B Tier
I have his POTW version which is great physically but then very clunky on the ball and don't really produce any end product passes or goals. This version is significantly worse than that while rated the same.
https://i.redd.it/dz6taf0ai1ma1.png8. Kudus 90 - C Tier
Inconsistent defensive CF. Worse than his other versions.
https://i.redd.it/bq46w4c6i1ma1.pngIt's a pack for Ajax fans. The star of the pack is definitely Timber -- especially at RB where his defensive stats can shine. Also the best version of him so far.
Both Tadic and Berghuis can be all right in out-wide team for cross spamming. Unfortunately this version of Tadic, Berghuis, Bergwijn, and Kudus are not the best version of them(usually POTW is better). The rest of the pack are more for collection purpose for fans of the club.
With the result of Liverpool-Man U last night, I am excited for the POTW this week. Gakpo, Salah, Nunez all could get a card. I really hope it's Nunez with broken stats.
