I'll try to keep this short. It's been 2 years since anyone floated Haynes in this sub as a miniseries subject. This Had Oscar Buzz covered Wonderstruck last week and it got me thinking about Haynes. In that episode Chris Feil said that Haynes has not yet made a bad movie and I think that's correct. I think there's a case that Haynes is the greatest director in the world if measured on the basis of "making choices that help elements in the 'idea phase' be effective to viewing audiences." That doesn't mean his movies reach the widest audiences, but it does mean that he might have the best record of executing on something that seems promising at the ideas stage.

June is Pride Month. We have seen this year that it is a very difficult time for LGBTQIA+ people, and June is always a month that is likely to get stepped on due to March Madness. Next year (did you know it's a presidential election year?) would be an excellent year to showcase a gay director. Maybe we can bump the MM winner a couple of weeks to make room for Todd Haynes!

His CV is below. Haynes' first big splash was Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story, and I could see that getting a week unto itself TBH. It certainly is the opposite of the embarrassing start that some directors have up front. I guess it wouldn't be crazy to yoke it to Poison. Poison is a banger, though.

Lastly, Haynes has a high-quality TV series (Mildred Pierce) that would be optimal for the Patreon. Thank you for considering this idea.
