FOREWORD

In game, a single village’s total manpower is 500 men. This represents scraping the barrel, that every single able bodied man has been given a weapon and sent to march. Thus, it seems odd that if a band of raiders or attackers came to a village that is unraised, all 500 of those men who should be farming, woodworking, labouring, etc, are suddenly prepped and ready to defend.

Another point being, in medieval history a vast majority of conflict between noble lords was raiding each others’ land even in peacetime. In Seven Kingdoms, that has happened very rarely. Even rivals like Forrester and Whitehill or Blackwood and Bracken never raid each others’ lands. A rework for the system would create a better medieval world with smaller conflicts, instead of constant total wars.

VILLAGE GARRISONS

The first and simplest part of this proposal is the garrisons of villages. While every single man should not be ready to fight, there should still be a moderate percentage who would be able to mount a defense. I believe that allowing 30% of the total troops to fight would allow for villages to still be defendable, while also being more attractive to bandits/raiders.

CURRENT SYSTEMPROPOSAL SYSTEM
TOTAL TROOPS: 500TOTAL TROOPS: 500
TOTAL GARRISON: 500TOTAL GARRISON: 150
