I just thought about the TempleOS game. It had 3d graphics, and I doubt the guy used X or OpenGL. So there must be some lower level of graphics access. All the graphics libraries are so complicated. What if you just want to draw a pixel somewhere. You could make your own buffer and update the screen instead of having to learn 999 random functions and graphical terms you are not familiar with. It's always better to make stuff yourself because you learn stuff and you know exactly what you are doing and you use logical function names.

Knowing nothing about how the computer draws stuff on the screen (display manager? desktop manager?), can you tell me if going lower is possible and advisable, and if I can make my own somehow, and what stuff I should websearch?

Similarly, the game used that computer beeper for sound. I know you can make it beep with the bell escape char, and if you want to make it cross-platform, and maybe different tunes you need the beep library, but this also sounds like an interesting thing to learn about and to make work at a level where you don't have to rely on layers upon layers of different people's libraries with random licenses and security issues etc...

Are HARD_MSGMAX and HARD_MSGSIZEMAX defined anywhere in /usr/include?

They're nowhere to be found there. Of course they are in kernel files but who includes kernel files? What is a portable way of getting MQ max num and mas msg size values? In Linux they are in /proc/sys/fs/mqueue/msg_max and /proc/sys/fs/mqueue/msgsize_max but that's not so portable either. I am reading mq_overview(7) and it does not mention any definitions. Where can I lay my hands on these sweet macaronis?

How to ptrace debug registers in aarch64?

How do you ptrace the debug register in aarch64. In x86 theres a u_debugreg field in the struct user. I tried checking if there is a PTRACE_* method in the ptrace man page for this, can't seem to find anything. Also tried grepping in /user/include, can't really find anything for finding the value of the debugregs.
