loseit - Lose the Fat
r/loseit
Hey Reddit, I have a story to tell that I hope helps someone. To give my background I'm a 51 year old man who has always struggled with my weight. Before Covid I'd lost 100 pounds, down to 230, but during the lockdown I gained 85 of it back up to 315. I figured it was no big deal I could lose again. Then last Sunday happened.
I woke up at 2am with by chest shoulder and neck feeling tight. I couldn't ignore the problem and asked my wife to take me to the hospital. I figured "I'm sure it's nothing". I wasn't. I had a 100% block in my right coronary artery and 70% in my left anterior descending artery (the Widowmaker). Shout out to my LCX artery for keeping me alive! By Thursday I was having a quadruple bypass and I'm sitting in a ICU now typing this.
I got lucky. A friend had recently had a heart attack so I was primed to notice the symptoms. I could easily have died. Either on the table or from a heart attack. So here's the message for my r/loseit friends. No food is worth this pain and exhaustion I'm having. No meal was worth the trials I'm putting my family and friends through. You can do this. You can lose the weight! You will be happier and you'll save yourself such a horrible experience. Learn from me and take care of yourself!
