r/modhelp
I am a mod of r/Thuhole , a sub created by students of Tsinghua University to discuss all sorts of things of life in China. It was suddenly banned last week, and now when I visit it, it only displays the following:
"This subreddit was banned due to a violation of Reddit's content policy against creating or repurposing a sub to reconstitute or serve the same objective as a previously banned or quarantined subreddit."
I'm really frustrated by this arbitrary ban. What does it even mean? I'm not aware of any banned or quarantined sub similar to r/Thuhole, let alone "serving the same objective". r/Thuhole was always abiding by Reddit's content policy and mod code, and the mods did not receive any warning from the admins before the ban. I submitted an appeal explaining why the ban was a mistake 6 days ago, no one except the automatic response has replied. How long would it take for such an appeal to be answered? What else can I do to lift the ban?
Dear r/modhelp community,
I write to you today with a sense of urgency and a plea for advice and assistance in safeguarding my Reddit account and newly created subreddits from an onslaught of unjustified reports. As a moderator catering to the needs of a very small minority within my local Reddit spaces, I find myself facing an alarming avalanche of reports that threaten the existence of these vital communities.
Reddit has long been a platform that encourages diverse voices and provides a space for various communities to flourish. In creating these subreddits, my intention was to address the specific needs and interests of a censored minority, promoting inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging. However, it appears that some individuals are using the report function as a weapon to suppress our community's growth and expression.
Despite adhering to Reddit's content policy and guidelines, my subreddits have been inundated with unjustified reports, which not only disrupt our discussions but also pose a severe risk of account suspension or closure. This unwarranted targeting threatens to stifle the very voices that Reddit claims to champion.
Therefore, I humbly request your guidance and support in tackling this issue. I am in desperate need of practical advice on how to effectively handle these unjustified reports and prevent any further harm to my account and subreddits. Specifically, I seek your insights on the following matters:
Strategies to differentiate between genuine reports and malicious ones, to avoid being overwhelmed by false accusations.
Best practices for responding to unjustified reports while maintaining a respectful and constructive environment within my subreddits.
Recommendations for preemptive measures to protect my account and subreddits from unwarranted targeting in the future.
Insights on how to engage with Reddit administrators, if necessary, to address this issue and ensure a fair resolution.
Your expertise and experience as members of the r/modhelp community are invaluable in helping me overcome this challenge. By sharing your knowledge and insights, you would not only assist me but also contribute to the larger cause of promoting inclusivity and protecting minority communities on Reddit.
I urge you to stand with me in this critical time and extend your support to safeguard the integrity of these subreddits. Together, we can work towards a Reddit platform that truly embraces diversity and protects the rights of all its users.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and anticipated assistance.
