Had to lock myself in the bathroom at work just to have a quick sob. How do you deal with the grief, envy, bitterness, anger, of infertility?

ADVICE

We have been actively TTC for 2 years, 3 years if you include NTNP. I've had multiple friends in the last few weeks announce first time pregnancies, today another friend announced in a GC. It felt like a gunshot to my chest seeing a positive test first thing when I opened the GC. For a few weeks I've been okay emotionally but today it's all coming out. I'm angry, bitter, envious, sad, been sobbing on and off as I really think about my situation. I don't want to be bitter, envious or angry with my friends but I can't help it. Why them? Why not me? Why do they get it without even trying, yet here I am childless when I should at least have a one year old. Idk how to deal with all these emotions. I'm a Christian as well but my faith has been so lacking, I just feel bitter and wish I had no desire to even have children to begin with at this point.

I got lost weight, got sober and somehow, my infertility left.

Success Stories

Trigger warning now so I don’t have to deal with those ppl mad I’m not obese or diabetic. Was never “overweight” but up 25 pounds during Covid and I went to a med spa and private paid for my syringes (never the pens, which was contributing to the shortage) and my lab work and visits.

Within two weeks alcohol use and cravings started to disappear and I had been struggling with increased alcohol usage for almost a year, but not wanting to acknowledge it. Just started month 3 and I don’t drink at all whereas I was drinking 4-5 days a week prior.

Anti depressants and anxiety meds. I decided to wean myself off these after checking with my PCP bc for the first time ever, I didn’t feel anxious or as overwhelmed by my own thoughts. I’ve been off Zoloft Wellbutrin and Xanax fully now for 5 weeks with no side effects.

My husband and I tried for kids for 4 years. Every test done, was told we had unexplained infertility and after so long in mid 30s our chances were under 1%. We accepted it and made a whole new life plan on being DINKS.

Last night I tested positive for pregnancy. 😁

I really think that this shot triggered changes in the habits in me that I had not noticed building up over years, habits that was using as crutches. Being able to “detox” off alcohol, anxiety and medication without feeling like the world was ending too? I think that resulted in getting pregnant.

I’ll be meeting with docs and all that good stuff and obviously off the shot now. I wish you all the continued best on your journey, whether for health, looks, or vanity or whatever your personal reasons, I hope you all kill it on your journey.

An example why a relationship with a priest is important (Infertility)

My spouse and I are dealing with infertility. One spouse has PCOS and the other, motility issues. We are about a month away from the point where our local doctor will refer us to a specialist if we want. Naturally, we spoke with our priest for advice about what we should consider and what we shouldn't consider as far as interventions go.

The answer from our priest, who asked both his confessor and our Bishop, was that we can consider all options so long as if we choose to pursue IVF, we only implant the amount of embryos that can be safely carried during a single pregnancy, we don't create extras, and we use genetic materials from us rather than strangers.

It's pretty contrary to what I see here sometimes when people say it's an immediate "no" to pursue any intervention.

I just wanted to post this as an example of why it's important to ask your priest rather than only ask people online. You may get entirely different answers and only your priest can provide guidance based on your specific situation. Plus he may even ask the Bishop!

The internet is no replacement for a in-person relationship with a priest.
