I recently went to an MG showroom to measure the current of all USB ports of the MG ZS EV. This information seems to be lacking from all official documentation. The only thing MG mentions is that the ports have 5V. So hopefully this can be a useful resource for ( future ) MG ZS owners.

USB Port next to rearview mirror: 998mA

Location of the USB port behind the rearview mirror

So make sure that if you intend to buy a dedicated device for this port, that it's rated at maximum 5V 1A. Anything that needs more will either not work, or be very unstable. A popular dashcam like the A129 DUO uses about 680mA in use with Wi-Fi enabled. It will be hard to find dashcams that use a lot more power than this one since it already powers two camera's. In case you want to record or livestream with your phone in your car it's also best to use this port and not the ones provides in the lower compartment because they only provide half the power. Tip: The A129 series from VIOFO offer really good value for the money. It's definitely worth checking out some reviews of these dashcams.

USB ports in the lower compartment: 2x 501mA

Surprisingly these ports only provide 0.5A which means it's enough to make sure there is no battery drain on your phone or perhaps even slowly charge it. If you plan on recording video or playing games while connected on this port, it will not be sufficient to prevent battery drain. When two devices are connected the current remains the same on each port so you can safely "charge" two phones. You can safely ignore the logo's since both ports can be used to transfer data from or two the car. If you want to record a video or livestream in your car with your phone, you are better of using the port behind the rearview mirror. Tip: Connect one short USB-C and one short lightning cable so that any possible phone from you or one of your passengers can easily get connected.

USB ports for the back seats: 2x 2003mA

Location of the USB ports for the back seat passengers

These ports are clearly intended to charge tablets. Also best to use one of these ports in case you want your phone to charge faster since they provide 4x more power than the ones in the front. When two devices are connected, the current remains the same on each port. So you can easily connect two tablets in the back. Tip: Buy two expandable cable organizers ( costs about $5-10 on Amazon ) that easily fit in the little storage compartment above the ports. Then, when needed, you can use and extend the USB charging cable to the desired length and easily put it back in the compartment when it's no longer needed. This keeps your car organized and prevents oxidation on your charging cables since this can happen if they touch a wet floor in the back.

I hope this post is useful for people that own this car or think about buying the car.
