I know there are lots of people like me looking for something in this elusive space below 30L, IDK if you're like me, but I've tried plain old unstructured backpacks like Jansport and was not thrilled. I was in a Hynes Eagle "38L" bag, although the exterior dimensions of that bag are about 33L. By exterior dimensions, this bag, which is <$40 on Amazon, is about 28L, so it was a small step down in size, but mostly that bag had worn out. If neither bag is stuffed there is a small height difference between it and the Hynes bag, but if the Hynes bag is stuffed, this bag is evidently smaller. This bag is just slightly on the large end to double as EDC, although I'm not sure if I would or not.

This is a test packout (and review), but it's very close to what I took for a week to Bulgaria in March (no computer or Switch) and very close to what I may take for a short trips to Colombia and then later to Peru later this year (it'll be coolish in both places when I go).

30L-45L backpack without a dedicated laptop compartment?

Wondering if there are international carry-on sized backpacks out there that do not have a laptop compartment?

We’re traveling to a few countries in Europe and won’t be carrying much tech other than phones. I know you can use the laptop compartment for other things or keep it empty, but would be great if that space could be redirected to the main compartment. Does a 35L-45L bag without a laptop compartment exist? Would love any recommendations. Thank you!

Camera carry

Curious to know those of you that travel with a DSLR what you do for a camera bag, if any. Was looking at getting a small camera sling like the peak design 3L or 6L (leaning towards 3, small DSLR with one additional lens) but I’m really torn on the idea of having the additional space it takes up in my 35L backpack and weight. I’m limited to 12.5kg/25lbs for my flights so the DSLR is already a luxury.

So what do you do? Throw the DSLR in your normal pack and just use the shoulder strap when out and about, or have a dedicated camera bag/sling?

Fat guy tech shirt recommendation?

So I'm not that athletic or skinny, I'd say I'm a normal kind of guy- I like beer and pizza, and my body shows it. The problem is, when I try on shirts that are tech (poly, quick dry, lightweight, etc) the fabric gets clingy and pretty much seems to emphasizes all the lumpy parts of my torso. And I get nippley pretty easy, and these kinds of shirts just accentuate this. Am I just trying on the wrong brands of shirts? Should I just stick to cotton tees and polos? Not a troll. Just a normal guy with a dad type bod and I'm about to give up looking for quickdry, low space, mositure wicking, etc kinds of shirts.

Telling me to lose weight or work out or change my habits to lose weight so I can wear Patagonia capilene shirts is not the kind of recommendation I'm looking for. I'm not worried about fit, either, as most XL shirts fit me fine.

Basically hoping other ppl who aren't built like fashion models, surfers, or Ichabod Crane have found something that works for them and can clue me in.

EDIT: Wow! I am overwhelmed with the responses, and I want to say "THANK YOU" to all of you who took time to reply. I'm going to spend some time combing through this and looking up the unfamiliar brands and stuff. This sub is awesome!
