There is seemingly nothing more unfulfilling than a ‘Dubai’ lifestyle

Everything about it seems so empty.

The obsession with materialism. People renting luxury cars for a day just to take a photo in it. Swarms of influencers and PTs taking a shirtless photo at any given opportunity.

I could go on…

Edit: people are getting what I said misconstrued. I specifically said ‘Dubai lifestyle’, that is an image Dubai paints of itself. I am not referring to the majority of the population who I’m sure live normal lives.

Marriage doesn't change anything

So often you hear of stories of "oh life was completely turned upside down because I got married" or "life is so limited after marriage" More often then not the people who say this are people who have been together less than 2 years which imo isn't enough time for either sides of the relationship to fully get to know each other before marriage.

You're relationship with your partner should not change view just because you're now "mr and mrs" whatever, if you got together because you're bestfriends who love each other then that doesn't change.

If your partner refuses to let you do something, that's NOTHING to do with marriage, that's the partner, not the marriage, if you waited outside of marriage long enough you would get this too but people instantly correlate this to being married.

Shared bank accounts, no one forces you to be in a shared bank account the moment you get married, you can also do this before marriage too.

"Worse sex life" has NOTHING to do with the title of marriage, that is just simply settling into life with your partner, whether you're in a marriage or not, enough time and sex life does dissipate typically unless the couple has high sex drives.

Unable to achieve life goals because of marriage, completely bogus, not being in a good relationship does this whether you're in marriage or not, hell, even having a poor friendship group does this.

Negative feelings towards your partner, that's not marriage speaking, that's you just not happy with your partner, which more often then not you feel this way before marriage, just as time goes on you notice it more and knowing you're "locked in a relationship" makes this feeling worse.

When you brag about how well you tip waiters (always 20+%) all you are really doing is announcing to the wealthy that you will subsidize their workers wages, so the wealthy done have too.

I find it incredibly cringe when someone says “I will always tip my waiter 20%, even if they do a bad job that’s the minimum”. All you are doing is announcing loudly, “I will pay the wages of your employee Mr. Upper Class, and will boast about doing so”

Cars don't need to be connected to the internet.

Aside from the fact that cars being connected to the internet opens up a large attack vector for hackers and are a privacy nightmare, most, if not, all things an internet-connected car does can be accomplished on our phones.

I hate the excessive use of the word 'Like' in the context of describing a feeling or action in conversational speech.

This is something typical to be overheard in a conversation on a subway, in a pub, bar, park and is especially prevalent with the younger people and I hate how it clutters the language and reduces the eloquence of dialogue.

Example:

'... and like he was Like angry and then like I was Like confrontational about it and then like she got like sad thereafter and like then I got like hungry after all that'

What really should be said:

'... and he was angry and then I was confrontational about it and then she got sad thereafter and then I got hungry after all that'

You either are feeling the emotion or aren't; you either are doing something or aren't doing it;

Or you can use words ie 'a little bit', 'sort of', 'very' to reduce/increase significance of the particular action/emotion if you prefer.

'... and he was proper angry and then I was confrontational about it and then she got a little sad thereafter and then i got really hungry after all that'

the worst thing is that this is very common. A Lot of people converse using 'like' instead of taking a small pause to breathe, form their sentences in their heads and then speak their thoughts.
