My girlfriend and I bought round trip tickets through Qatar airways from Boston to Doha to Bangkok 6 months ahead of time. The flight was scheduled for February 17th. We arrived in Boston Logan International on time and made our way to the check in line. At the check in line we’re two ticket agents asking passengers if they’d be willing to bump their flight to the same flight at the same time 24 hours later. They had overbooked the flight. They would pay for the tickets, and pay each passenger $1550.

We deliberated for a couple minutes and accepted the offer. We, along with one other passenger, then waited for 2 hours on standby until they made sure the flight was full. After this wait they gave us a document to fill out with our personal information, bank account number, and routing number. We completed them and gave them back. It was a holiday weekend so we were told we would see the money in our account after the holiday weekend.

Fast forward 4 months and we still have not seen any payment. My girlfriend has called multiple times only told each time “it will be escalated”. She emailed over 10 times. Filled out more forms she was sent with her information once more told she would see the money in 2-4 weeks. 4 weeks went by and they told her the money couldn’t be routed because her bank does not have “swift”. She asked for a check instead, was told she’d see it. 2 weeks later and nothing.

I’ve considered contacting a lawyer but figured I would see what I can get here first. Just at a loss as to what we can do next to be compensated as we were promised multiple times.
