Funnily enough, that episode kinda fueled SAG-AFTRA members to strike.

“There seems to be no real negotiations here,” a SAG-AFTRA member close to talks tells Deadline on AI talks with the AMPTP. “Actors see Black Mirror’s ‘Joan Is Awful’ as a documentary of the future, with their likenesses sold off and used any way producers and studios want.” The union member is referring to the opening episode of the latest season of the Charlie Brooker-created satire starring Salma Hayek and Annie Murphy. “We want a solid pathway. The studios countered with ‘trust us’ – we don’t.”

The last time actors and writers struck together was in 1960, back when Ronald Reagan was president of SAG. Writers at the time began their strike in January of that year, and actors joined in March–however the actors signed a deal six weeks into their strike. Writers continued striking until June of that year.

The prospect of Fran Drescher to be the President of USA is interesting.

Also, I would add the rules for SAG-AFTRA strikes for Indie Production.

Exceptions may be given to independent productions that agree to terms with SAG-AFTRA on an interim basis, but these productions must be truly independent, meaning that they do not have a studio or streamer that is a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) attached as producers or distributors.

Oh damn, I did not know about the waivers, so sorry about that. I'll retract my statement. You're right, there are some exemptions for indie Movies, here are some details according to the Wrap.

Yeah, as long as there are SAG-AFTRA or WGA members, if those members took work during strike, they'll be branded as Scab and got blacklisted.

EDIT: It turned out, according to the Wrap, Indie Movies has some exceptions under certain rules.

Absolutely, they were some suggestions the actors shouldn't be there since there's a strike. I mean DC Studios and Marvel studios already skipped Comic-con this year.

If they are registered on SAG-AFTRA, they would be advised not to work, according to this article, Gladiator 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 should stop filming since the strike is happening.

I was trying to post the same link and it directed it to your thread.

Yeah, the rumor is other studios were ready to negotiate but Netflix is the one who held them back.

I can see why though, other studios has other revenue streams where Netflix do not have it.

Ooh, this is pretty bad for AMPTP, they think they have upperhand but I think they do not have leverage here, I can see them crawling and beg to WGA and SAG to stop the strikes.
